Let us learn working of semiconductor laser.
Working :
A semiconductor diode laser is a device that produce a single light from a semiconductor material called gallium arsenide (GaAs).
When the current is applied the electrons are introduced from n-type and the holes are introduced from p-type into the junction.
The photons are reflected back and forth between two ends of the p-n junction.
Population inversion takes place at higher energy band and when electron fall back at lower energy band it emits light through the polished and of the laser.
Cross reflection of light takes place which multiply is the strength of the laser beam.
Thus a laser beam is emitted from one end of the p-n junction.
