  • A semiconductor diode laser is a device that produce a single light from a semiconductor material called gallium arsenide (GaAs).

  • When the current is applied the electrons are introduced from n-type and the holes are introduced from p-type into the junction.

  • The photons are reflected back and forth between two ends of the p-n junction.

  • Population inversion takes place at higher energy band and when electron fall back at lower energy band it emits light through the polished and of the laser.

  • Cross reflection of light takes place which multiply is the strength of the laser beam.

  • Thus a laser beam is emitted from one end of the p-n junction.
