Developing the right work ethic has a significant impact on the kind of professional you become. Despite the widespread belief that the industry is "cut throat," this is not always the accepted standard that must be adhered to. It takes more than just performing your job to be a conscientious employee; you have to do it well. You put in the hours, effort, and energy necessary for your work because you understand that it's a "school" of learning where you learn new abilities, face challenges from unexpected situations, and are compelled to step out of the boat and learn how to walk on water. This is why you do it successfully.
We can only advance professionally as well as personally when we are forced to step outside of our familiar surroundings and take on new challenges with an open mind.

Not every interaction will be enjoyable. Sure, there will be arguments, sure, not every coworker will encourage you or be pleased with your progress, and sure, there will be times when you may not be the best at what you do, but you have to see the glass half full rather than half empty. This is, in my opinion, one of the cornerstones of building a solid work ethic. All "tough" circumstances are only as challenging as your imagination allows them to be. If your thoughts lead you to believe that the circumstances are difficult, you will start to feel bad about your job and your employer. All this does is fuel paranoia. Please leave your feelings of paranoia at the door.

Let's take an example where X was not made aware of the time of a crucial meeting. Would X become irritated? Most likely. But something as small as this is like a ripple in space; it shouldn't determine someone's willingness to study, grow, develop, listen, watch, and exercise patience.

All of this is a result of having a diligent work ethic. Rather than reacting angrily or defensively, it's critical to stand back, assess the circumstances, and develop a new perspective that transforms your perspective of your work as productive rather than unproductive.
