The development of Bangladeshi artists has brought about tremendous changes in the social life and dignity of women. The spread of industry today has drawn women from the confined environment of the home to the outside working world.
Moreover, women's employment has expanded the opportunity to earn extra money. Women have come a long way in education. Women are no longer confined to primary school secondary school boundaries. They are now studying for higher education in various institutions including Medical College General University Engineering University Agricultural University. With the aim of expanding women's education, the government has launched a stipend scheme, due to which the cost of women's education is largely determined by the government.
Now the people of the rural society are giving equal importance to the education of the girl child along with the boy student. As a result, female students are far ahead in the SSC examinations and HSC examinations of various education boards.
Women are now being engaged in various fields of work besides education. At one time women were confined to household chores. Today, women are employed in garment industry, pharmaceutical factory, telephone and telecommunication industry, paper industry, etc. in the urban areas of Bangladesh. Moreover, educated women are working in various professions such as medical law teaching, police, judiciary and various government and non-government organizations.
In the government service, a large number of women are working in almost all cadres including administration, police postal cooperative and answer. At our village level, women have created self-employment by taking loans from government agencies or private companies. These jobs include tree planting, nursery, cow fattening, goat rearing, poultry rearing, etc. Again, these women are fulfilling many social responsibilities along with men. Along with social change, the role of women in different fields has also changed. The role of women and this change has balanced the path of women's empowerment and placed women in a position of dignity.

সামাজিক পরিবর্তনে নারীর ভূমিকা
বাংলাদেশের শিল্পীর ক্রমোন্নতি নারীর সামাজিক জীবন ও মর্যাদার ক্ষেত্রে কে প্রভূত পরিবর্তন সাধিত করেছে। শিল্পের প্রসার আজ নারীকে গৃহের সীমিত পরিবেশ থেকে বাইরের কর্মমুখর জগতে টেনে এনেছে।
তাছাড়া নারীসমাজের চাকরি বাড়তি অর্থ উপার্জনের সুযোগ সম্প্রসারিত করেছে। শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে নারী আগের তুলনায় অনেক বেশি অগ্রসর হয়েছে। নারীরা এখন শুধু প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের গন্ডিতে আবদ্ধ নয়। তারা এখন উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য মেডিকেল কলেজ সাধারণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সহ বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠানে পড়াশোনা করছে। নারী শিক্ষার সম্প্রসারণ এর লক্ষ্যে সরকার উপবৃত্তি প্রকল্প চালু করেছে যার কারণে নারীদের লেখাপড়ার খরচ অনেকটা সরকারের ওপর নির্ধারিত।
এখন গ্রামীণ সমাজের মানুষ ছেলে শিক্ষার্থীর পাশে কন্যাশিশুর শিক্ষাকে সমানভাবে গুরুত্ব দিচ্ছে। এর ফলস্বরূপ বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা বোর্ডের এসএসসি পরীক্ষা ও এইচএসসি পরীক্ষায় নারী শিক্ষার্থীরা ফলাফলে অনেক এগিয়ে রয়েছে।
নারী এখন শিক্ষার পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন কর্ম ক্ষেত্রে নিয়োজিত হচ্ছে। এক সময় নারী শুধু গৃহস্থালী কাজের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ ছিল। আজ নারীরা বাংলাদেশের শহর এলাকায় পোশাকশিল্প ঔষধ তৈরীর কারখানা টেলিফোন ও টেলিযোগাযোগ শিল্প যা কাগজ শিল্প প্রভৃতি শিল্প-কলকারখানায় চাকরি করছে। তাছাড়া শিক্ষিত নারীরা বিভিন্ন পেশা যেমন চিকিৎসা আইন শিক্ষকতা পুলিশ বিচারবিভাগসহ বিভিন্ন সরকারি ও বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানে কাজ করছে।
সরকারি চাকরিতে প্রশাসন পুলিশ ডাক সমবায় অ্যানসার সহ প্রায় সবগুলো ক্যাডারে নারীদের বিরাট একটা অংশ চাকরি করছে। আমাদের গ্রাম পর্যায়ে নারীরা সরকারি সংস্থা কিংবা বেসরকারি সংস্থা থেকে ঋণ নিয়ে আত্মকর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি করেছে। এ কর্মসংস্থান গুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে বৃক্ষরোপণ নার্সারি গরু মোটাতাজাকরণ ছাগল পালন হাঁস-মুরগী পালন ইত্যাদি। আবার এসব নারী পুরুষের পাশাপাশি বহু সামাজিক দায়িত্ব পালন করছে। সামাজিক পরিবর্তনের সাথে সাথে বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে নারীর ভূমিকা ও পরিবর্তন ঘটেছে। নারীর ভূমিকা আর এই পরিবর্তন নারীর ক্ষমতায়নের পথ কে সুষম করেছে এবং নারীকে মর্যাদার আসনে অধিষ্ঠিত করেছে।
