The more shit you put up with, the worse it gets!

Not my post, I do not live there.

Hi everyone! Just recently joined this group.
Just wanted to share some general knowledge on different parts of the world.
For 2 Stroke lovers, i hope i can shine some light on the 2 stroke situation in Singapore, Singapore!
I currently own two bikes :
2010 Aprilia RS125
2004 Kawasaki Ninja 150
For all bikes in Singapore, we have to pay a additional levy called “Certificate of Entitlement (COE)” and it costs around ~$7400 USD to own it for 10 years, which after you have to either get your bike crushed by the government, or you have to pay an additional $7400 after riding the bikes for 10 years. I have paid the levy for my aprilia just to keep it on the road. Imagine paying $7400 just for a piece of paper, not including the price of the machine and other taxes such as road tax, electrionic road pricing which they will tax you for the roads you take during peak periods. Singapore is already such a small country, so you dont have a choice to take those roads and pay for it. And almost every carpark has a eletronic parking system, which you have to pay for parking unless you live in a private estate, which will cost you almost a million usd to stay, which is an private condomnium apartment with your own private parking.
Recently the government has created this “Incentive to De-Register Older Motorcycles” which they will offer you an exact amount of $2525 USD to crush your vehicle if your bike is registered before 2003. So many legendary 2 stroke bikes have to circum to this fate as even if you choose not to take the offer, you are only allowed to partially renew your COE ( 5 Years only out of 10 ) which means that after the 5 years, it is mandatory for the bikes to be crushed.
You are also not allowed to install any unapproved exhausts or “fix” your exhaust if it is broken. You will be issued a huge fine of $721 USD/time you get caught with a unapproved exhaust system or if they find out you have mingled with the exhaust.
There are many other taxes you’ll have to pay to keep a vehicle in singapore, but i’ll keep it here for now.
I love 2 stoke bikes. But in my country, keeping any vehicle in singapore is a luxury. Not something you’d get for convenience.

Singapore has an effective and unusual Mosquito control. A government personnel will come to your house, will put a jar with water in it, if it bears mosquito larvae they will deal with it and treat the area.

Anyway I understand why they are strict about pollution from a rather less efficient fuel-burning two strokes because it basically pollutes the air more than the four stroke Bike engines. 👍

Four Stroke Engine
One power stroke for two revolutions of the crankshaft
Two Stroke Engine
One power stroke for one revolution of the crankshaft

a 2-stroke engine is more powerful than a 4-stroke engine and has a higher power-to-weight ratio.

Not gonna say that a 2 stroke is not more polluting , but driving alone on a 70cc 2 stroke bike compared to driving alone ( as most people mostly drive there car alone ) in a 1600cc 4 stroke car will not make much of a difference , the 2 stroke might even turn out to be cleaner .

2 stroke's are more fun for less money as they are cheaper to produce , less parts .
How a 2 stroke compares to a diesel engine ? LOL ,.. it's not about pollution that 2 strokes get banned everywhere .

It has more something to do with radio interference form the 2 stroke ignition system , that could mess up 4 and 5G , as mostly only city regions ban the 2 strokes . Because as far as i have seen , governments don't give a fuck about pollution . ;-)

At least you get it, few do.

Today we kind of gave up on a Frankenstein build quad .
Engine comes from a motorcycle and is cold bolted to the quad frame and connected with a chain to the back axle , almost ready to go we thought . ;-)
( and who needs a seat or a clutch , or brakes , when testing a engine )
We did spend some time looking at it because we really liked the 600cc 2 stroke one cylinder double carb's Yahama . My mate mechanic J got it to run a bit , while i figured out what the fuck was wrong with the steering and front suspension . Damn what a mess , but it was finally the kick-starter that did it , nasty back-kicker that fucker .
Back to plan A ,.. put the back axle and front wheels on a 650cc 2-stroke snow-scooter . , at least that thing works and has a pull cord .

You will laugh at me and J doing our stuff , creating horror machines instead of fixing things up nicely , but we are preparing for a time that replacement parts will become impossible to get , while having fun riding on death machines .

But damn we admire your skills to make it as new . ;-)

Cheers brother, it was the Grand Prix and rg 500 days, the British championships were boring production bikes, they still slag me off, I went to Grand Prix and gave them a miss, as I liked tuning, making things better than new, making them faster, now I like making them look like new again, and faster :-) Addictive, look forward to seeing your build.

That snow mobile will take some time ,.. cutting grinding and welding it all together again .
If done ill post a picture . :-)
Today i made a base-plate to connect a two cylinder 450cc in a old Polaris ATV , the original one cylinder 300cc was torn and ripped beyond use . Bigger engine and little room to place it made the frontwheel drive and foot brake useless , but first this engine has to work before we worry about those problems .

I ain't no tuner or skilled engine mechanic , i am a constructor that can make anything fit to anything . Like give me some broken bikes and i will manage to create a new one from that scrap . I was a very skilled custom truck builder when i was in my 20th's , i love construction and design , i like to make things that will last seemingly forever . Back then i had a whole workshop with all thinkable tools one could need to do metal construction and design on what ever ,.. now i have only a grinder , a burner , a drill and a welding machine . No problem , it's all i need , for i have all the time to do it ,..as no one is pushing me no more .

Live it's what you make it , by the creations done . ;-)

But an electric car is charged from diesel and coal?

Yeah you have a point there.
I remembered when we had a total lockdown due to CoViD, almost no cars on the road. So in effect the air in Metro Manila looked so very clean, the constant smog obscuring distant places went away.
But anyway although we have diesel and coal powerplants here in my country we also have hydro-electric and Geothermal and maybe soon a nuclear power plant.
I just see the advantages of using electric vehicles now because of these depressing fuel prices.

And there is the double whammy as they say, rising fuel prices will make electric more expensive, so electric cars will make no sense and have a limited range, with dangerous highly explosive batteries.

Did you see the electric bus that set fire in Paris?

Yes that is what I am thinking, we can't get out from the grips of fossil fuels.
Plus EVs are expensive because of the batteries which degrades over time and prone in heat and that explosion. It would be a good thing if batteries are more safer and have a longer service life.

HHO is the future, browns gas, but it does not make money as it is water, and the greedy do not like that.
