Hello everyone ,
How are you all ? I hope everyone is fine and doing great in their life.
I am also fine and feeling better now. Today , I am here to share some of my witness updates that i did yesterday and also to share some valuable conversation and a feedback regarding it with blurt foundation.
So i have updated my witness properties yesterday and now i have again adjusted the fees.
I have reverted back to initial set of values i.e
- 10 blurt for account creation fees
- Operation Flat Fee to 0.001 BLURT
- Bandwidth Fee to 0.200 BLURT per kB
These were the props of my witness earlier that i changed few months ago as there was a discussion among the witnesses regarding , increasing the fees. Anyways , i think we can now focus on other stuff and revert back fees to normal.
After i read @clixmoney recent comment on one of the post i though of reducing the fees as it will help new comers trust the platform more. If someone joins blurt with zero or very few liquid blurt he/she might just stop working here.
He shared some solutions that are worth reading. You can read what he wrote below
I even think that blurt account creation should be free. And we should have a special team to welcome those people, help them with some blurt to pay fees, and to guide them step by step. The free account is to make people learn. Or maybe even 100 blurt should be given to them to play with. If the devs are afraid that those 100 will be played with to withdraw, maybe that should be kind of temporary blurt that could be used only for fees. Live virtual blurt or something like that. Anyway, I see this issue very important. Because we can't onboard users by ourselves always, they may come from the traffic allocated for us from our promotion. And if someone notice us and try to join but can't and move to something else, that means our promotion is worthless. I don't like to see the work of @blurtcast for example burned that way. Thanks for raising this issue. Reblurted !
Below is the complete thread of conversation.

I have liked the idea of liquid blurt that can only be used to pay fees if developers can do that it will help new comers at a great level. I will also ask if it can be possible to not charge fees from new users until they reach a particular threshold.
For example if a account reaches 200Bp and 50 liquid blurt fees will be implemented on their account as well. It will also be good if new users can be told about this via a comment from a bot so that they are not confused when they start seeing fees.
People who are here knows the importance and reason behind implementing fees but new comers don't so it is better to bring the reason of it to their knowledge as soon as they join blurt.
Also lastly where do these fees goes is also what new comers should know.
Anyways , that's all for now. Keep blurting and have a nice day ahead everyone.
Thank you
This is a proof of STAKE blockchain. This is social defi, not a beggars banquet. The quicker newbs understand this, the better it is for their mind to figure out how to succeed.
Having said that, on Steem, PAL became the Welcome Party - was a lot of work.
I myself later created MAP - a minnows accelerator - which was much smaller (and easier to manage).
Yeah , i agree with that. The sad reality is that people who join any social platform sees it only as a source of earning income.
People are so lazy that they don't even bother to learn some basic functionalities of the platform.
Also it is easy to say to bring xyz changes but only developers know how difficult and time consuming that can be if they start working on bringing something new.
It was something to help minnows ? Here on blurt can we have something similar ?
A small initiative was taken by our team powerclub to help new comers with few free liquid blurt.
In which case, (a) it isn't social, and (b) they can learn to be interesting enough to vote on. OR...shock... BUY some BLURT and earn curation rewards.
Which is also why I prefer to call it FINsoc and not SocialFi.
yeah, go ahead! Do we have enough minnows?
I would tokenise your project - look at MPATH on Hive. Sadly, POWER has been taken as a token name - ironic how it has none - but pick a good token name. You can use a similar model.
I think there is more variety to it. I personally am not here for the money - probably I am not the only one :)
You are right, there is laziness to be found in how to approach a site and its ergonomics. The modern user is used to be spoiled and learn the features quickly and by intuition. When other websites already set the standard and a user is used to the common standards, for example, he will have difficulties to adapt to a new environment. The difficult task for the tech is to know about it. Not everyone will be satisfied, as we all know.
When I started as a newbie on Steemit back then, the best support I got from single people who were interested in my contents and vice versa. They gave me some good advice and also were role models in how to deal with the chain. I personally dislike automated greeting comments where "the rules are explained".
Greetings:)
