Blurt is now a SourceForge Spring Leader 2022!!
Yes, we did it. We did not reach top 1 but we settled firmly on the top 3 position and we are happy about it.

The last two weeks have been amazing for me as I had something interesting going on. @offgridlife was posting on Blurt official Discord server that Blurt is no 2 on the SourceForge website and Hive is no 1.
He was requesting everyone to write a review and take Blurt to the first position.
With his efforts Blurt reached the top position and everyone was happy.
But soon enough the Hive users caught up and added more reviews.
Why I stepped in
The were on the top and Blurt was in the second position.
This is when I reached out to the community asking everyone to write a review about Blurt and help us rank better.
I also announced a reward of 25 Blurt to each user who wrote a review.
I collaborated with other community leaders to spread the word. @Chibuzorwisdom who runs the @blurtconnect-ng Curation account announced that he will give 5 Blurt to everyone who writes a review.
Soon enough @UltraVioletmag announced that she would match my rewards and give away 25 Blurt to anyone who writes a review.
So, users got 25+25+5= 55 Liquid Blurt from us.
Did it have a positive impact?
There are a few users who think that I angered the mighty Hive whales and that's when the SourceForge thing attracted their attention. And they believe that that's why Blurt ended up at 2nd and eventually 3rd position.
Well, several Hive users and including a whale were already paying Hive users with votes for reviews.
I only stepped in when Blurt fell from the first position. I am a Witness and a community leader and I always look for ways to incentivise things that help Blurt.
In my opinion writing reviews and trying to stay up gave us good exposure. Steem and Hive users were flocking to write reviews and that is when many of them got to know about Blurt.
The same week Blurt saw a 5000% increase in refferal visitors from Hive.Blog. That means there were people who came to Blurt from Hive.
What about the negative reviews?
We got a good amount of positive reviews and the few negative reviews that we got have gave me some ideas about what we can do to improve Blurt.
I will address these points in a future post that will be dedicated to answering the negative reviews.
I'll share a few points that I gathered from the negative reviews.
Downvote button: Many users wrote positive and negative things about the lack of a downvote button but most people love that no one has the power to abuse you.
Lack of Development: I know Blurt moves slowly but a lot of things are going on in the background which most users are not aware of. Blurt Devs will announce more features in a few days.
Lack of Dapps or games: I agree that we are far behind in this area and I would love if anyone from the community comes forward and builds a game for Blurt.
If you have any idea and experience with building games for blockchain then please write to me in the comments and share your proposal. We can think about it.
Did I reward everyone?

What next?
Well, I am stopping this campaign now and I'll think of other ways to incentivise actions. I'll come up with something soon.
Conclusion
The thing is that we need to push every possible way to promote Blurt and hopefully we will be bigger than we are now. If we look back last year then we were hardly 10,000 active users but now we have 50,000 and more.
I am not alone. I have a strong team with me that motivates me and I would request you all to vote for witnesses from our team because we are a bunch of different people with different skills and we give everything to make Blurt a better platform.

Even we are in 3rd positions, I read most comments from all 3 platforms. I felt only Blurt reviews show the truth. So for me nothing to worry. People who know the truth know what platform is truly decentralized.
It's just beginning for Blurt. There's a lot more to do and in e next few years Blurt will be huge.
It's pretty sure
the lack of dapps is both positive and negative, for me I never really used them and most of my new creative friends just found it all too overwhelming and complicated, mostly for none tech people they prefer the simplicity of blurt, I actually also do. I think there could be a few developments and improvements to the layout as all these sites feel a bit like myspace but that includes hive and steemit, they are all really basic there but I don't think everyone wants a site full of d apps rly.

Congratulations to all of us. I think that's a great achievement, given the current state of Blurt which is still relatively new to being able to compete in the top three of SourceForge's rankings. It should be better, if all users are willing to provide support through their positive votes.
