I wrote this as a comment on @world-travel-pro'scpost and thought it deserves a post.
As far as the trending page is considered there are several points that needs to be discussed.
The changes made to the Blurt.blog are not only because of Lucylin but also with respect to Vote Trading Services such as Upvu.
The trending page is ruled by posts that are voted by these vote trading Services which is unfair to other users who work hard to produce quality content and get frustrated because they can't reach the top of the trending page.
And yes Ctime, MK and a few others vote content by Lucylin and such filth doesn't look good on the trending page. Ctime, MK and others have the right to vote on any kind of posts and I personally have no issues with them exercising their right.
The current changes made to the Blurt.blog trending page doesn't blacklist any user's vote. Some users might think that posts voted by them are being censored or blacklisted but that is not the case.
As explained by Blurt Dev Tekraze in a previous post the trending page used to take the vote value in consideration and vts such as Upvu have huge stakes and these posts used to get 2-3 big votes and land on trending page. The current settings take number of votes into consideration not vote value.
For a page to reach the top trending page I think (this is my opinion and not the teams) it should consider the number of votes, the vote value, the number of Reblurts and then the number of comments a post has received.
Since we are a Decentralised community I believe (my opinion) that the trending page shouldn't be ruled by one user such as Upvu. It should be a collective effort.
Why collective effort is needed? (My opinion) If only one or two people (vts) control the trending page then it's no fun. A group of people putting in efforts to bring quality post up means a lot and brings the community together.
According to Tekraze they are still trying to find the best way to update the trending page.
Hopefully with the suggestions from users I think we can have a dynamic trending page that will help showcase the best of the best posts that are not voted by a bot.
Why is @mmmmkkkk311 and @mariuszkarowski s curation being censored? They are clearly NOT a vote trading service! Why are important Blurt curators being treated like this?
This is your personal opinion, but your personal opinion isn't being asked here!
I can only share my personal opinion at this time. You will have to wait till the Blurt team shares more information.
Important curators are getting curtailed on the official frontend... This is absolutely ridiculous and inappropriate!
A wise man once said:
"This is your personal opinion, but your personal opinion isn't being asked here!"
I'll just wait till official update is made.
I will repeat myself: Even The official opinion isn't being asked here either... The only opinion that counts, is the Blurt communitys opinion!
You better ask the community then.
Many have spoken.... Somebody just isn't listening as it seems..?!
Oh, you mean this upvu??? 😂 Trending page rank 6 on blurt.blog!!! Satire at its best...
Another reason why the trending page must evolve.
