Greetings,
We are excited to finally yet introduce another major upgrade to Ecosynthesizer.com, which would further add to the project's already extensive set of tools and capabilities. We have decided to work on a mechanism that will allow developers, POs, and any community member to create and remove proposals in the simplest and easiest way possible, based on numerous discussions with key members of the community and several witnesses. There are presently no other tools to create proposals on Blurt.
We considered allowing users to create proposals via their active key at first, but we decided against it for security concerns. Instead, we chose a more secure solution, which we were able to achieve with the help of one service provider. WhaleVault which is currently provided and maintained by @alexpmorris.
We also noticed that there were no filters for create_proposal
and remove_proposal
on the account page. Users can now use the filters on their account page with ease. We also added some practical restrictions to the creation process, though not all of them are enforced by the blockchain itself. These restrictions are:
The minimum time frame for a proposal is set at 30 days,
The maximum time frame for a proposal is set at 10 years;
The maximum per day pay for a proposal is set at 9,999,999 BLURT.
Aside from the ability to create proposals, we also included the option to remove them, which had never been done previously on an existing service. We considered creating a separate page for it, similar to the create proposal page but decided to add a button to the table on the proposal page to allow users to use remove_proposal
.
The page to create proposals is pretty straightforward. But there are a few things that we would like to mention.
The title can be anything you want, but as per blockchain rules, its possible length is limited.
Daily BLURT is enforced to have a specific format (.000).
Permalink is the section of the link after the account name of the proposal creator (mandatory), which means that the post needs to be created by the creator of the proposal. Example:
@user/my-first-dao-post
- In this case, the permalink is themy-first-dao-post
part.Start and end time will be subject to the rules mentioned above, even though they are not enforced by the blockchain.
This is really important here. The person behind the creator account is the one who is going to pay the 10 BLURT fee that is enforced by the blockchain. We are getting this value by checking
BLURT_TREASURY_FEE
. One other important thing is that on the Blurt blockchain, several users can use the same title, such asmy-first-dao-post
. Thus, the permalink (post) that should be entered needs to be created by either the creator or the receiver.The Receiver is the account that will receive funding if the proposal reaches the threshold and starts receiving funding.
Compared to Steem, Blurt has still some milestones that need to be reached to enforce its decentralization even further. We hope that this is just a small step toward an autonomous economic environment that is truly controlled by the community and stack holders.
Oh! One final thing, incoming delegations are available now on eco.
Special thanks to @saboin, @eastmael, and whoever took part in providing pointers for us or contributed to the Blurt code.
We are constantly trying to find and fix bugs. If you find one, please report it on our Discord server.
The Return Proposal
Similar to what can be found on other chains. The goal of having a Return Proposal is to prevent proposals that have little to no approval from actually receiving funding, the Return Proposal also plays a major role in preventing malign actors from using the DAO and the community needs to do its best to police the funding process. In general, users should exercise due diligence before voting for any proposal by properly investigating each proposal they are willing to vote for and making sure that the proposal is not an elaborated way to siphon BLURT from the DAO, or funding projects that will negatively affect BLURT, or are heavily commercial projects that are not open source and add no value to the Blurt ecosystem as a whole. The DAO in general should not be used for experimentation and chameleon-arism but rather for carefully studied proposals with clear goals that are based on empirically verifiable outputs. The Return proposal should be frozen in place later to ensure that neither the creator nor anyone else can tamper with it. People also need to know that the Return Proposal will automatically send the BLURT back to the DAO, so no one is taking profit from it and there is no middle man.
To vote for the Return Proposal, please head to the Blurt proposal page on ECS (WhaleVault is required) and vote for the Return Proposal created by @symbionts.
Thank you all for your continuous support,
The Symbionts Team,
This is awesome!
I have wanted to have a working interface for proposals for a long time now.
Thanks for doing this! It will surely help to move Blurt forward.
A nice and much needed add on for blurt. Thank you for bringing the feature to blurt.
Awesome job on this! I probably would reduce the max length to 2 years, forecasting 10 years ahead isn’t practical and bad proposals lingering for that long could reduce morale.
