I live in New York State, USA. We've had blocks on using many exchanges for a couple years now. Only KYC exchanges are usable; I never tried binance. I can't even buy hive or blurt with fiat here, or at least everything I have tried has not worked, the APIs used are not supported in NYS. I was able to do it five years ago or so.

Hopefully you have enough in crypto to move it around within crypto. The issue is the other way round, the gateways back into fiat.
Sure, the whole issue is both on-ramp and off-ramp. But the banksters must be happy that the proles may well be losing money - what they really hate are those making profits - and gaining some financial freedom.
have you looked at Wirex as an option?
I do, but I haven't managed to move it around yet. Do you have suggestions for hard wallets? I have an old ledger, but heard that might no longer be such a safe place to hold it.
I meant "moving crypto" so you gain access to whichever exchanges can then transfer into fiat - as I said, Wirex is an option in some countries.
As for wallets, not sure, you can try Exodus - just make sure you store all account addresses and seed phrases both on paper and a pendrive, both OFFline. I don't use mobiles as have zero trust in apps.
can even make a DIY wallet

Very few exchanges are supported in NYS. Connecticut is the other state with these restrictions - I believe those are the only two states. The APIs needed to make the swaps into or from fiat are not supported. I could only use coinbase, and I tried another half dozen of non-KYC exchanges before I gave up. I haven't found any exchanges that I can purchase blurt through with fiat - I would have to purchase bitcoin first. I might be able to cross into another state - a couple of times I was blocked because the exchange could tell which state my computer was in at the time. It was shocking! I haven't gotten around to trying a VPN. Who has time for all this? These things take me much longer because I know so little. I've tried to find help at computer stores, but each time I was told that whatever I was trying to do was something only criminals need to know how to do. lol. I'm a little old lady!

Thanks. I'll bet it won't work in NYS though. I'll try it anyway.
