এখানে জলে কিছু শাপলা ফুল হয়ে আছে. যদিও এখনো এই শাপলা ফুলগুলো সম্পুর্ন ফুটে পারিনি, হালকা ফুটে ওঠা ভাবের মধ্যে আছে। এই শাপলা ফুল বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় ফুল হিসেবে পরিচিত। শাপলা ফুল যখন ফোটে তখন বাইরের পর্দাটা সরে গিয়ে ভিতরের সাদা পাপড়িগুলো স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে খেলিয়ে পড়ে.

শাপলা ফুলগুলো ফুটে থাকা অবস্থায় বেশ সুন্দর লাগে দেখতে। এই শাপলা ফুলগুলো সাধারণত একধরণের জলজ উদ্ভিদ , এগুলো বিভিন্ন জলজ জায়গায় হয়ে থাকতে দেখা যায়. তবে শাপলা ফুল সাধারণত হাওড়, বিল, পুকুর ইত্যাদি জায়গায় হয়ে থাকে. এই শাপলা আমাদের এশিয়া মহাদেশের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশ, ভারত সহ আরো অনেক দেশে নদী-নালা, খাল-বিলে, পুকুরে ইত্যাদি জায়গায় হয়ে থাকে।
The water lilies look very beautiful when they are in bloom. These water lilies are a kind of aquatic plants, they are found in different aquatic places. However, water lilies usually grow in haors, beels, ponds, etc. This water lily grows in rivers, canals, beels, ponds etc. in our Asia continent including Bangladesh, India and many other countries.
এই শাপলা ফুল আমাদের ইন্ডিয়ার একটি গ্রামের খালে হয়ে ছিল এবং আমি আজকে বিকালে এইগুলোর ছবি তুলি। শাপলা ফুল সাধারণত ভোরের বেলা ফুটে থাকে কিন্তু দিনের আলো বাড়ার সাথে সাথে এর পাপড়িগুলো আবার বুজে যায়. ফুলগুলো কাণ্ডের সাথে যুক্ত থাকে এবং এর কান্ডগুলো জলের থেকে বেশ লম্বা লম্বা হয়ে থাকে।
These water lilies were in the canal of a village in India and I took pictures of them this afternoon. The water lily usually blooms in the morning but its petals reappear as the daylight increases. The flowers are attached to the stems and the stems are much taller than the water.
আর এই শাপলা ফুলের পাতাগুলো সবুজ, বেশ বড়ো বড়ো আকৃতির হয়ে থাকে এবং মূলের সাথে যুক্ত অবস্থায় থাকে। আর এই মূলের সাথে যুক্ত পাতাগুলো জলের উপরে ভাসমান অবস্থায় থাকে এবং এর বড়ো বড়ো পাতার উপরের দিকে সবুজ রঙের হলেও নিচের দিকটা কালো হয়ে থাকে বা অনেক সময় লালচে মতোও হয়ে থাকে। আমি শুনেছি এই শাপলা ফুল বাংলাদেশের একটা প্রতীক চিহ্ন হিসেবেও ব্যবহৃত হয়.
The leaves of this water lily are green, quite large in shape and attached to the roots. The leaves attached to this root are floating on the water and the large leaves are green at the top but black at the bottom or sometimes reddish. I have heard that this water lily is also used as a symbol of Bangladesh.
বাংলাদেশে শাপলা ফুল টাকা, পয়সা সহ বিভিন্ন জিনিসে প্রতীক চিহ্ন হিসেবে জলছাপা করে লাগানো হয়ে থাকে। শাপলা ফুল আবার কিছু কিছু হিন্দু ধর্মীয় পূজায় ব্যবহার করা হয়ে থাকে। এই শাপলা ফুলের ডাঁটা কিংবা মূল কিংবা পুস্পদন্ডকে আবার সবজি হিসেবে আমাদের এশিয়ার লোকজনেরা খেয়ে থাকি। তারপর ফুটে থাকা শাপলা ফুলগুলোর গর্ভাশয়ের মধ্যে ছোট ছোট আঠালো প্রকৃতির বীজ মতো থাকে এবং এই বীজগুলো গ্রামের লোকজনদের খেতে দেখা যায়. যদিও আমি গ্রামে থাকতে একবার খেয়েছি এই বীজ. খেতে খারাপ লাগেনা একেবারে, একটু কষ কষ মতো লাগে খাওয়ার সময় ।
In Bangladesh, water lilies are emblazoned on various things including money. Water lily are also used in some Hindu religious worship. The people of Asia eat the stalk or the root or the flower stalk of this water lily as a vegetable. Then there are small sticky seeds in the uterus of the blossoming water lily flowers and these seeds are seen to be eaten by the villagers. Although I ate these seeds once in the village. It doesn't feel bad to eat at all, it feels like a little bit while eating.
