Let's gain some knowledge about Surah Al-Baqarah verses 98/99.

Surah Al-Baqarah is the second chapter of the Quran and contains 286 verses. Each verse of the Quran carries its own significance and meaning, and Surah Al-Baqarah verse 98 is no exception.

Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 98, is as follows:

Translation: "Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and His messengers and Gabriel and Michael - then indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers."

In this verse, Allah establishes that those who show enmity towards Allah, His angels, His messengers (prophets), as well as the archangels Gabriel (Jibreel) and Michael (Mikaal), are considered enemies of Allah.
It highlights the importance of believing in and respecting the divine authority and the messengers chosen by Allah.

This verse serves as a reminder that those who oppose or reject the message brought by the prophets and angels, and harbor animosity towards them, are ultimately in opposition to Allah Himself.
It emphasizes the severity of opposing the guidance and revelation from Allah, as well as the consequences of such enmity.

By mentioning Gabriel and Michael specifically, the verse includes the two prominent archangels who play significant roles in the revelation and execution of Allah's commands.
Gabriel is known for delivering divine messages to the prophets, while Michael is associated with matters of sustenance and provision.

"And indeed, We have revealed to you clear verses, and none disbelieve in them except the defiantly disobedient."

This verse highlights the clarity and guidance present in the revelations sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It states that Allah has revealed clear and distinct signs, miracles, and verses to the Prophet Muhammad.

The phrase "clear verses" (آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ) refers to the Quranic verses that contain clear and evident messages, providing guidance and signs to the people. These verses are characterized by their clarity, eloquence, and wisdom, serving as a source of guidance for humanity.

The verse then states that only those who are "defiantly disobedient" (الْفَاسِقُونَ) would reject or disbelieve in these clear signs and verses. The term "defiantly disobedient" refers to those who knowingly and willfully deviate from the path of righteousness and indulge in sinful behavior.
Such individuals choose to disregard the truth despite its clarity and reject the message of the Quran.

This verse highlights the idea that the rejection of clear signs and verses of the Quran is not due to any deficiency in the guidance itself but stems from the rebellious and disobedient nature of those who choose to disbelieve.
It emphasizes that the message of the Quran is clear and accessible to those who sincerely seek guidance and are open to accepting it.

By mentioning the defiance and disobedience of those who disbelieve, the verse suggests that the rejection of clear signs is not based on intellectual or logical grounds but is rather a consequence of moral corruption and a deliberate choice to oppose the truth.
