Let's gain some knowledge about Surah Al-Baqarah verses 86/87/88.
Surah Al-Baqarah is the second chapter of the Quran, and it consists of 286 verses.
The verse 86, is as follows:
"These are the people who have bought the life of this world at the price of the Hereafter, so their punishment will not be lightened, nor will they be helped."
In this verse, Allah (God) describes a group of people who prioritize the temporary pleasures and gains of this worldly life over the eternal rewards of the Hereafter.
They are depicted as having willingly traded or exchanged the hereafter for the transient and perishable benefits of this world.
The verse emphasizes that those who choose such a path will not receive any alleviation of punishment or assistance in the Hereafter.
It serves as a reminder to believers about the consequences of attaching too much importance to material possessions and worldly desires, neglecting their spiritual development and the pursuit of righteousness.
The broader context of Surah Al-Baqarah contains numerous verses that highlight the significance of faith, good deeds, and the remembrance of Allah. The verse 87 is as follows:
"And We did certainly give Moses the Torah and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed."
This verse highlights the historical relationship between Allah (God) and the Children of Israel. It begins by acknowledging that Allah had granted Moses the Torah (the religious scripture of the Israelites) and sent various messengers after him. They say that their hearts are wrapped, meaning that their hearts are covered or sealed, preventing them from understanding or accepting the message of the messengers.
This claim is presented as an excuse for their disbelief and rejection of the messengers.
They attribute their inability to believe to a condition beyond their control, suggesting that it is due to their hearts being sealed or closed.
However, the verse counters this claim by stating that Allah has actually cursed them for their disbelief.
The phrase "Allah has cursed them" refers to the consequences of their actions and their deliberate rejection of the messengers and their message.
By emphasizing that Allah has cursed them, the verse emphasizes that their lack of belief is not due to an inherent condition of their hearts but rather a result of their own choices and actions.

Despite the numerous messengers sent to them and the clear signs and proofs provided, their belief is lacking and insignificant.
