Let's gain some knowledge about Surah Al-Baqarah verses 100/101.

Surah Al-Baqarah is the second chapter of the Quran, consisting of 286 verses. Verse 100 of Surah Al-Baqarah carries a profound message:

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 100, is as follows:

"And is it not that every time they made a covenant, a party of them threw it away? But, in fact, most of them do not believe."

This verse addresses the behavior of the Children of Israel, the Israelites, during the time of Prophet Moses (Musa, peace be upon him).
The verse highlights their habit of breaking their covenants and betraying the trust placed in them.

During the time of Prophet Moses, the Israelites made several covenants with Allah, promising to obey His commandments and follow the guidance of their prophet.
However, a significant number of them constantly violated these agreements and failed to uphold their promises.

The verse points out that this act of breaking covenants was not limited to a few individuals but was a common occurrence among them.
It emphasizes that a majority of the Children of Israel lacked true faith and sincerity in their relationship with Allah.

The verse serves as a reminder to believers of the importance of fulfilling one's commitments and staying true to one's word.
It teaches that trustworthiness and reliability are essential qualities for a believer and that breaking covenants is a sign of weak faith and a lack of integrity.

In a broader context, this verse also serves as a lesson for all humanity, emphasizing the significance of upholding agreements and commitments made with others.
It encourages individuals to be mindful of their responsibilities and the trust placed in them.

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 101, is as follows:

"And when there came to them a Messenger from Allah confirming that which was with them, a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw away the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained]."

This verse addresses a specific incident that occurred during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
It speaks about a group of people who had received previous scriptures, such as the Torah, and were familiar with their contents. When the Prophet Muhammad, as the final messenger of Allah, came with the Quran, which confirmed the truth of the previous scriptures, some of the people who had knowledge of those scriptures rejected and ignored the Quran's message.

The phrase "a Messenger from Allah confirming that which was with them" refers to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) confirming the truth and authenticity of the previous scriptures that the people possessed at the time.
The Quran acknowledges the validity of the previous scriptures and emphasizes that it is a continuation and culmination of the divine guidance sent to humanity.

However, despite recognizing the truth of the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad's message, a party of those who had been given the previous scriptures disregarded the Quran.
The verse metaphorically describes their behavior by saying they "threw away the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained]."
This means that they willfully neglected and ignored the Quran as if they had no knowledge of its content or its significance.

This verse serves as a reminder and a warning to those who reject or ignore the truth despite having prior knowledge.
It highlights the unfortunate reality that some people, even when faced with clear evidence and confirmation of the truth, choose to turn away.
It is a call to reflect on one's own attitude towards divine guidance and to be open-minded and receptive to the truth when it is presented.

It is important to note that this verse is specific to the context of the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the rejection of the Quran by some among the People of the Book (Jews and Christians).
It does not imply a general condemnation of all Jews and Christians, as there were also individuals from these communities who accepted the message of Islam and embraced the Quran.

Overall, Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 101 serves as a reminder of the responsibility to recognize and accept the truth when it is presented, and not to let personal biases or preconceived notions hinder one's ability to embrace divine guidance.
