Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.
Let's gain some knowledge about Surah Al-Baqarah verse 84.

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 84 is as follows:

This verse translates to: "And [recall] when We took your covenant, [saying], 'Do not shed each other's blood or evict one another from your homes.' Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing."

In this verse, Allah (God) reminds the Children of Israel of the covenant He took from them. The word "مِيثَاقَكُمْ" (mīthāqakum) refers to a solemn agreement or covenant.
It is believed to be the covenant that the Israelites made with Allah during the time of Prophet Moses (Musa in Arabic).

The covenant contained two main obligations:

  1. Prohibition of shedding blood: The Israelites were commanded not to commit murder or engage in any act of violence that would cause harm to one another. This prohibition emphasizes the sanctity of human life and the importance of maintaining peace and harmony within society.

  2. Prohibition of evicting themselves from their homes: The Israelites were instructed not to expel each other from their dwellings or forcibly displace one another. This obligation aims to maintain stability and protect the rights of individuals to live securely in their homes and communities.

The verse states that the Children of Israel acknowledged and accepted these obligations while being witnesses to the covenant.
This implies that they recognized the importance of these commandments and agreed to abide by them.

The purpose of reminding the Children of Israel about this covenant is to emphasize the significance of upholding their commitments and following the divine laws. It serves as a reminder of their responsibilities and obligations towards each other as a community.

This verse also carries a broader message for all believers. It highlights the universal principles of preserving human life, avoiding bloodshed, and maintaining peace and security within society.
It reminds individuals of the importance of honoring their agreements and treating others with justice and compassion.

Overall, Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 84 serves as a reminder of the covenant made with the Children of Israel and the obligations they undertook.
It also imparts timeless moral values and ethical principles that are relevant to all believers, encouraging them to uphold peace, justice, and harmony in their interactions with others.
