Apparently one of the President of Ukraine's top ambitions is to join the European Union. Which is Ok, I actually think Ukraine's path would have been much better maintaining a neutral position, getting the most it can from the Russian block, from the EU, from the US and from China, it should have nurtured good relations with everyone and probably nothing would have happened, but that is just my opinion and reality is we have a war, we are back to a multipolar World and hundreds of thousands of people have died needlessly. It has happened, is happening and will probably continue happening forever because Ukraine wants back to 1991 borders and Russia will not give it back, so we are at square one.
But what gets me is this desire of the Ukrainian President to join the EU, and one of Ukraine's largest backers is the United Kingdom, with arms, money and training. Just a few years back the UK had Brexit because supposedly the EU was encroaching on the freedoms of the UK, yet here we are, the UK is helping Ukraine try to win a war so they can take the UK's place in the EU. Doesn't this seem weird to you?
You know help a country just so it can then be enslaved by the EU? No, I am not an EU hater, I am just trying to see what the UK government is really thinking. If the EU is, according to the Brexit folk very close to being evil, why even help Ukraine, better a known foe than a new one. Well I think the World is going mad, or perhaps it is a master plan that is too complicated for me to figure out.

Well, in this case, it is actually a proxy war and it really saddens me that there being just as bloody wars in Yemen in some African countries, the massacres of the Rohingya and yet nobody talks about that, I guess like you say, in those places it is also the victims faults.
