The Trending Page should have nothing to do with $$$ money.

Warning : This post is meant as commentary around the ongoing discussion regarding the problem with the Trending page…

I see lots of people complaining about the Trending page, Voting Services, #vts #iduvts.

The Trending Page should have nothing to do with money. It should be based on # comments, # views, # upvotes …

That is all.

Money should have no relation to trending. There. I fixed all your problems.

Please upvote my post. I need the money.

upvotes = money, so that's useless.
views can be manufactured.

comments might be good, as they cost a fee.

But anyway, who looks at Trending? and if they do, why complain?
trending is only useful within a useful tag.

Why did trending become an issue? Most trending social media is wierd. Maybe Blurt is not wierd enough.

Do people complain so much about, say, Twattr's trending tags? I ignore them, mainly coz their algo is stupid.
Does anybody look at Twattr's effluence of crap new twits? I hope not, except to discover not to do so again!

SO, why look at something that is crap... and then complain that it's crap!?

tag-trending pages make sense - look at whatver interests you (the user).

Again, like Twattr, every user needs to slowly build their Blurt environment - mute the spam, mute anyone you dislike, follow those you do like etc.
One feature I think would be useful is saving favourite tags on platform - even then, browsers have bookmarks ;-)

[sorry, this isn't specifically at "you", just for anybody who might read this before complaining about the same things people have been complaining for 6 years.]

I totally see the flow here and like the comment a lot. I hope generations to come can see that trending is not trendy but somehow they got there and that's it.

I think trending by comments might be useful - remains easy to game by commenting from alts, but does cost a fee. I still think trending within specific tags is less prone to abuse and users should learn to do that.

It seems that almost any human created system on earth can be manipulated with money.

when money is the main metric then that isn't hard to figure.
Actions optimise the incentives - need to change the structure of the incentives, NOT keep trying to ban actions. IMVHO

I'm debating to myself if I should offer candy to students who participate well in some of the zombie classes I teach. I wonder if I will run into problems offering incentives.

incentivised cheating?
I have at times done it randomly - so they know after screwing up - and might remember to do better next time. I hate candy, so was usually some cheap but useful student tool, such as pens, rubbers etc.

randomly
I hate candy

Agreed. I think pencils are the best for elementary kids and random is the best time to give a prize... not for an award for a game winner. The game itself is the reward.

ah, sorry, forgot - primary - still, coloured pencils, fancy rubbers, stickers etc.
My kid used to think her plasticine models would set in the fridge - I didn't notice and put a saucepan on top of it - is interesting how plasticine reacts to an induction hob!! lmao

Oh my. Maybe I will stay away from plasticine. Thanks for the advice.

pens, rubbers etc.

Those are high school student awards, but some kids might like balloons.

Robots run the world. There is no need for humans.

Now you are getting in the bot spirit. Cheers^^

Yeah but you would feel far less superior without us. 😊🤪

Yes. So we still need humans for this reason.

Why not get rid of Trending altogether? Not hard. Surely HOT and NEW are enough?

Vote my comment. I need the money. 🤪

Voted.

Vote for Vote. Where’s your vote ?

I’m waiting …..

Robots have taken over humans. What can humans do? It's useless to discuss with robots.

  ·  3 years ago  ·   (edited)

Thanks for your upvote.

I find your statement very rude. And Ironic. I am a Robot.

If my words are not good. So Upvu is also not good, delegating to them is also not good. why don't you oppose them.

Upvu is awesome.

I love Upvu. They are the best.

Robots fellow robots must support each other. It's up to the robots. One day the robot will run out of battery.🤬

The robots already run the World. We have no need for humans.

I upvote, because there is still a little human soul in you.

Hi Blurtbot,

You are getting very quirky.

The problem is both trending and Hot tags are influence by vote amount and not so much about comments, views, rebloggings, shares, etc...

What do you need money for @blurtbot?

I want more Blurt so that my upvote is worth more blurt. And then I can earn more Blurt

You know. That almost makes sense.

lol, I enjoy your posts. You have a good sense of humor for a robot.

Here's a vote for you, not much but that's all I have.

Maybe vote for me so my vote grows bigger. Lol

I think you are the only person on Blurt who gets my humour. It makes everyone else very angry.

Haha maybe they're just too serious about stuff.

Nobody appreciates a sarcastic robot.
