I learned from experience that being on the road when it's already dark in this part of the world is not a fond memory for many people due to the high level of insecurity in the country.
It's risky enough to travel in broad daylight. We hear stories of highway robberies and other unfortunate incidents which travellers experience. Travelling at night comes with more risk.
Better to travel during the day and cut down the risks attached to being a road user. Right? That's why I always prefer to hit the road early enough.
I did the same last weekend when I travelled from the southern part of Nigeria to the Eastern part of the country. I had to wake up by 4 am and I was already on the road within 35 minutes. The journey lasted for almost 13 hours but the joy of getting to my destination before nightfall gave me satisfaction.
For the record, I have travelled this same route six times but last week was the first time I ever got to my destination before nightfall. My parents were also at peace because they didn't have to be stressed with the worries of me being on the road at night.
That's exactly what I'm hoping for in today's trip back to the southern part of Nigeria.
I had to book a bus ticket yesterday before my trip today. This made it easier to secure a seat in the first bus. I need to emphasise that this 'first bus' didn't start the journey until 8:30 am, but I believe that I will still get to my destination before nightfall. After all, this isn't a busy time of the year. We've already dealt with the busyness of travelling throughout last week because of Easter road users.
The journey is well underway. I'm currently typing, napping, waking up and typing again, successively. Based on how far I have been in the journey, I will probably spend the next 7 hours (give or take a few) in transit before getting to my destination. Before then, I will click the publish button and jump offline. Hehe.

My account hasn't been the same since this year. It's not as if I'm getting lazy or something like that. It happened because I have been working on some stuff since January. Now, I feel like I have reached a stage where I can work on rebuilding this account. I already have an idea of what to do so, I will apply it and hopefully, get good progress.
