A Look Around New York City 2019!

in travel •  2 years ago

Hey there friends on Blurt! I was going through some of my photos from past travels and here are some real life capture shots from New York City Summer of 2019. How the world has changed!

I never thought that when I was in New York I wouldn't be back for many years. After all I'm from Albany New York, about 3 hrs north by car. It's now over three years since then and I still have not left Thailand. Fortunately I really love this country so it's not like I've really tried to leave. In fact it's been the opposite and I've really made this country my new home in many ways.

Now lets take a walk down memory lane and see how things looked near Times Square in 2019.

THANK YOU

Thanks for the pics! I see everything has changed in just 3 years... except those arrows telling people which direction to walk! LOL

Posts like this used to be my thing for 5 years on Steemit and Hive! I miss them.

As a kid I would love looking at photography books in the book store...guess that says a lot about how much I liked to read! hahahaha

But I really loved the old photography books that were photos of everyday life and how things were. I found in fascinating. Then I got into where Waldo, but that's a whole other story! lol

Glad to see that you enjoy seeing these photos too. Especially this one in such a famous place in the world, NYC! My time is short these days, I think I'll keep up my presence by sharing photos from years of travel and whatever else.....

Thanks for stopping by and supporting my blog! And so happy you are still Alive!

Thank you brother!
I too share a fascination with photography. Even (especially?) the candid stuff, and the mundane. Some of my favourite shots to go back and look over were pictures I took as a kid of my own room and contents. "Oh yeah! That's when I was using paper bags for a garbage can!", or whatever it may be. Snapshots in time. A way to trigger the memory, a look at your own past. Or photos of people in public doing their thing. "We could piece together all of human history, if enough of these mundate photos could be found!" That said, I guess that is what is going to happen with advanced computer intelligence at some point, and it's now a little bit scary because of what will be able to be done with that information. But those old mundate personal shots, which escaped being tossed out as pointless, are pretty cool indeed. Got any really old pictures of your own stuff and surroundings? Sure, we all have lots of pictures of happy moments, weddings, parties, family dinners... but it's those in between pictures which give us a glimpse at how life was, sometimes showing an object or situation that we had forgotten until seeing the image.
Thanks for reminding me of all that! I'd love to get a chance to glance over all my really old shots, before.... there's no more time to do so. Can't be now, we're still only half moved in, with the upstairs still in shambles and most of our belongings in the frozen garage. We're definitely not "settled in", and likely won't be until the new year. The photos will have to wait!
EDIT: Oh, just remembered. For years, I've had the habit of taking photos of things most people don't, for the above reason (some day they will be rare and interesting). Like when somebody gets injured, I get a camera. Sometimes that causes hurt feelings or confusion, but hey, that's the risk a photographer takes. I have pictures of sad moments, something a lot of people purposely don't photograph. Nothing but smiles, and happy times... in other words, a fake representation of life. I like to capture it all. I sometimes even keep blurry or dark pictures that others would toss out. They're not perfect, but they do contain information, and tell a story too.

The photos you share are really interesting and uique. Like the life cycle of a tree. That was a very cool one. I'll have to look back and see what I have on my computer. The thing is I didn't start taking a lot of travel photos until I got on steemit in 2017. Even though I've been traveling since the early 2000s I just don't have the collection I wish I did, going back all the years. One thing is for sure my blog got me far more into photography and for a while I was making a lot of videos too, but I never took my blog to the next level in terms of quality. I was always too busy traveling! lol, and by the time I was motivated to do so, the next bear market set in, and now again....lol

Anyway, thanks for the update on the frozen garage...man I remember that back growing up in NY, but where you are I can only imagine how cold it gets. As always best to your family, rooting for you guys as much as ever!

Nice shots mate! What a lot of great energy this city has. I wish I was there to experience it before the fall.. and maybe to play some street music as well 😉

For real, I feel very lucky to have traveled for nearly 20 years before covid. Now travel is just not the same.
