Happy 100th anniversary of our Republic. I wanted to share this post on October 29, but I didn't have time. However, the 100th anniversary of the Republic is not an event that can be celebrated on just one day. I still haven't taken down the flags I hung on outside of my house. I think celebrations should be spread throughout the year. As the name implies, it is the 100th year, a century has passed, but the country founded by the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is still standing. Even though this country and the Republic have suffered over the years. How happy are we who witnessed the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

Cumhuriyetimizin 100. yılı kutlu olsun. Bu yazıyı 29 Ekim günü yayınlamak isterdim ama zamanım olmadı. Cumhuriyetin 100. yılı öyle bir günde kutlanacak bir olay değil zaten. Ben halen eve astığım bayrakları indirmedim. Kutlamaların bütün yıla yayılması gerektiğini düşünüyorum. Adı üstünde, 100. yıl, bir asır geçmiş ama büyük önder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün kurduğu ülke dimdik ayakta. Her ne kadar bu ülke ve cumhuriyet yıların için de darbeler alsada. Ne mutlu bize ki Cumhuriyetin 100. yılına tanık olduk.
Since October 29th fell on a Sunday, enthusiastic celebrations were held throughout Turkiye, particilularly in Istanbul. It would not be possible to sit at home on the 100th anniversary of the Republic. I and my friend wanted to attend the Republic Day events organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality at Maltepe Coast Park. In the afternoon, we drove to a location close to Maltepe and parked the car. We got on the Marmaray from Maltepe towards Kartal and a lot of people wit us got off at the closest stop to the coast park. We arrived at the area where the Republic Day events were held after about a 15-minute walk. People were flocking to the area from all over Istanbul.
29 Ekim’in Pazar gününe denk gelmesi nedeniyle de başta İstanbul olmak üzere tüm Türkiye’de çoşkulu kutlamalar yapıldı. Cumhuriyetin 100. yılında evde oturmak olmazdı. Arkadaşımla birlikte Maltepe Sahil Parkı’nda, İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından düzenlenen, Cumhuriyet Bayramı etkinliklerine katılmak istedik. Öğleden sonra arbabayla Maltepe’ye yakın bir konuma gelip arabayı park ettik. Maltepe’den Kartal yönüne doğru Marmaray’a bindik ve sahil parkına en yakın durakta bizimle birlikte bir sürü kişi indi. Yaklaşık 15 dakikalık bir yürüyüşten sonra Cumhuriyet Bayramı etkinliklerinin düzenlendiği alana vardık. İstanbul2un her yerinden akın akın insanlar alana geliyordu.
A total of four stages were set up in the area, two large and two small. I can say that people from all political views, from young to old came here to embrace the Republic. See people in such unity and solidarity after a long time, I got very emotioned. People who came to the area were singing along to folk songs, halay and anthems. We left the area after staying for about two hours because we had work the next day. I wish we had come a little later and could have seen those magnificent celebrations and Zülfü Livaneli after the evening. I followed the celebrations on television afterwards. I would like to thank Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for such a celebration.
Alanda iki tanesi büyük, iki tanesi de küçük olmak üzere toplam dört sahne kurulmuştu. Gencinden yaşlına, 7’den 70’e her siyasi görüşten insan burada Cumhuriyete sahip çıkmaya gelmişti diyebilirim. Uzun bir aradan sonra insanların böyle birlik ve beraberlik içinde görmek beni çok duygulandırmıştı. Alana gelen insanlar türkülere, halaylara ve marşlara hep birlikte eşlik ediyordu. Ertesi gün iş var diye biz yaklaşık iki saat alanda kaldıktan sonra ayrıldık. Keşke biraz daha geç gelseydik ve akşamki o muhteşem kutlamaları ve Zülfü Livaneli’yi görebilseydik. Ben de kutlamaları sonra televizyondan takip etttim. Böyle bir kutlama için İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi’ne teşekkür ederim.
Like Atatürk, we will depart this life one day, but I believe that the Republic of Turkey will survive forever, just as this post will remain on the HIVE blockchain forever. Despite everything that has happened during this 100 years, I saw this belief in the 100th anniversary of the Republic. All photos in this post belong to me. Thank you for reading.
