At the end of 2015, when I was living in Italy, I traveled by boat from Genoa to discover the rugged nature of the island of Corsica.
Its location exactly in the center of the Mediterranean Sea makes it easily accessible by boat from any French, Spanish or Italian port.
It is a practically unpopulated island (the total number of inhabitants exceeds 300,000 inhabitants) and around 30% of its territory is a national park.
For this reason it can be covered without problems in a couple of days.

I spent a few days in Saint Florent, a small paradise place. Old and classic coastal town transformed into a not too busy tourist destination.
I started in this small town because it was one of the direct sea connections I had from Genoa, Italy.

Today, Saint-Floren t is known for its tourist and architectural heritage that reflects the different cultural influences experienced over the centuries.

En Saint-Florent, que en realidad era una ciudad genovesa, comienza el Sentiero costero delle Agriate (sendero costero), una preciosa ruta peatonal situada entre el mar y el desierto de Agriate.

One of the true historical monuments of Saint-Florent that catches our attention the most is the fortress called the Citadel.
Built when the island was under Genoese rule, it was a bastion intended to protect the coast and the interior of the country from possible enemy attacks.
From the Citadel it is possible to observe the gulf and the coast in all their charm in a panoramic and spectacular view.
The Citadel, with its imposing structure and its historical heritage, represents one of the most important monuments of Saint Florent.
Beaches and trails can also be seen in the famous town of Cap Corse, the island's former capital.
Uno de los verdaderos monumentos históricos de Saint-Florent que más nos llama la atención es la fortaleza llamada Ciudadela.
Construido cuando la isla estaba bajo dominio genovés, fue un bastión destinado a proteger la costa y el interior del país de posibles ataques enemigos.
Desde la Ciudadela es posible observar el golfo y la costa en todo su encanto en una vista panorámica y espectacular.
La Ciudadela, con su imponente estructura y su patrimonio histórico, representa uno de los monumentos más importantes de Saint Florent.
También se pueden ver playas y senderos en la famosa ciudad de Cap Corse, la antigua capital de la isla.
