Nelligala Temple

After spending a relaxing day at Mount Blue Kandy, we headed back to our home on 3rd day. On 3rd day, we planned to visit Nelligala Buddhist Temple on the way to home. This is one of the famous places visited by many Buddhists and other religious people.

It's like one hour ride from Kandy town. So, after having the breakfast at hotel, we left the hotel early to visit this place. Even though we called it Nelligala Temple, it is an international Buddhist center. And gold color Buddhist statues make this place more attractive.

One of the interesting things which I saw in this temple is even though the temple was on a mountain rock, it has a wheelchair accessible facility for disabled persons. And the vehicle park is quite large.

When you enter the temple, you can feel the fresh air in the very clean environment. I think they are cleaning a few times per day to make the place more interesting.

When you enter the temple, you can almost view the 360" view of that area including Hanthana Mountain and a few more. I was able to capture only the Sigiriya rock from the viewpoint of the temple. The viewpoint of the temple is at around the statue of God Sumana Saman and You can see it in my first photo.

After visiting we wanted to visit the Polgahawela Rajamaha Viharaya also. Since there was a Harith's friend near that temple, we contacted them and went there to meet them. Unfortunately, Polgahawela Rajamaha Viharaya was closed on that day for cleaning purposes and we didn't have a chance to visit there.

Anyway, we had a great time with Harith's friend and his wife while visiting the place called " Wal Palama". We had lunch in their home and came back to our home after 3 days. It was a great trip and we were very happy about our destinations during the trip. Let's meet with another trip experience soon.
