I spent a large part of my childhood and youth in this city in the north-central part of Italy. Beautiful for its coasts and for its artistic-cultural heritage.
Today I am going to refer to a characteristic neighbourhood that has been somewhat transplanted in Argentina by immigrants (la Boca): I am referring to Boccadasse.

Hoy me voy a referir a un barrio característico que ha sido un poco trasplantado en Argentina por los inmigrantes (la Boca): me estoy refiriendo a Boccadasse.

Boccadasse is the most famous among the ancient fishing villages still visible in Genova. What to see in Boccadasse / Qué ver en Boccadasse.
Located right at the end of the Genoese promenades, Boccadasse welcomes those who arrive here with the profile of the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova. The building was built by fishermen as an oratory from the 18th century onwards. The structure was enlarged several times over the years, first to widen the nave, then with the addition of the bell tower in 1827 and finally on the occasion of the consecration which took place in 1864.
Its interior is characterised by a polychrome marble floor and preserves various works of art and, hanging on the walls, some models of ships donated as votive offerings by the faithful for the graces received from the saint.
Behind the church there is a panoramic terrace overlooking the cliffs and from which you can see, as beautiful as a postcard, the small bay surrounded by the pastel-coloured buildings of Boccadasse.
Thanks to this pedestrian connection with the Genoa seafront, Boccadasse is very well connected to the city. Precisely for this reason it will not be necessary to stay in the village to enjoy its atmosphere, but you can search for B&Bs and hotels in Genoa organizing your stay according to your needs.
Situado justo al final de los paseos genoveses, Boccadasse da la bienvenida a quien llega aquí con el perfil de la Iglesia de Sant’Antonio da Padova. El edificio fue construido por pescadores como oratorio a partir del siglo XVIII. La estructura fue ampliada varias veces a lo largo de los años, primero para ampliar la nave, luego con la adición del campanario en 1827 y finalmente con motivo de la consagración que tuvo lugar en 1864.
Su interior se caracteriza por un suelo de mármol policromado y conserva diversas obras de arte y, colgadas en las paredes, algunas maquetas de barcos donados como exvotos por los fieles por las gracias recibidas del santo.
Detrás de la iglesia hay una terraza panorámica con vistas a los acantilados y desde la que se puede ver, tan bella como una postal, la pequeña bahía rodeada de los edificios de colores pastel de Boccadasse.
Gracias a esta conexión peatonal con el paseo marítimo de Génova, Boccadasse está muy bien comunicado con la ciudad. Precisamente por este motivo no será necesario alojarse en el pueblo para disfrutar de su ambiente, sino que podrás buscar B&B y hoteles en Génova organizando tu estancia según tus necesidades.

From the viewing point you can access Boccadasse via a staircase or walking along Via Aurora, a typical creuza, or along one of the narrow streets that characterize the villages of Liguria.
Once you get down you find yourself on the seashore, surrounded by houses and protected from the noise of the city. Here the predominant sound is that of the waves and the voices of people and children playing in the water or on the shore.
This small picture is framed by numerous bars and restaurants overlooking the beach, some more touristy than others, offering street food and typical local dishes.

Una vez que llegas abajo te encuentras en la orilla del mar, rodeado de casas y protegido del ruido de la ciudad. Aquí el sonido predominante es el de las olas y las voces de la gente y los niños jugando en el agua o en la orilla.
Esta pequeña estampa está enmarcada por numerosos bares y restaurantes con vistas a la playa, algunos más turísticos que otros, que ofrecen comida callejera y platos típicos locales.

There are several hypotheses about the origin of the name Boccadasse, but there are no reliable sources on the subject. According to the most cited, the name of the village derives from the shape of the small bay: Boccadasse means "donkey's mouth" (bocca d'âze in Genoese dialect). .
Other possible origins of the name refer to the "asse" stream that once ran where the via Boccadasse is today and which, after having fed the wash houses (treuggi in Genoese) and the fountain, flowed into the sea in the centre of the village. or also, from the name of a former owner, Guglielmo Boccadassino.
Existen varias hipótesis sobre el origen del nombre Boccadasse, pero no existen fuentes seguras al respecto. Según el más citado, el nombre del pueblo deriva de la forma de la pequeña bahía: Boccadasse significa "boca de burro" (bocca d'âze en dialecto genovés). .
