There should be some regulations on Air Fares

My cousins wanted to come and visit me here in Muscat, we were planning out on our dates. We thought of looking at the Christmas week since that's holiday time in schools as well so it is convenient. When I checked the prices, I was quite at a shock. The prices during the Christmas week are almost 60% more than the regular prices

This is the regular fare, which is 17k

And this is the fare for the Christmas week 27k. A hike of 10k in the fare. For 3 people what I will pay, in other times 4 people will be able to travel and still save on some money.

A 10% to 20% hike can still be understood but more than 50% is absurd, and I guess closer to the dates this is going to be almost double fare. During Covid times the fare had gone up to 45k which was insane for a 2.45 hrs flight.
Since my husband works for Airline, I have the privilege of getting discounted tickets and hence I do not realize much on the fares when I travel irrespective of any season.

Now they are thinking if they should travel during this time, or it would be advisable to look at other options. Travelling anywhere during these holiday season means you have to be prepared to pay double the cost of almost everything. There should be some regulations towards these Fares hike so that it is not so much of a burden while planning our travels.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

unfortunately this is a common practic from the airlines and flightportals, not only in your country but also in the western world.
The nearer the dates come to official holidays the higher the prices climb, the only workarrounds wich can possibly work are:
trying to book from another countries website of the prefered airline or portal so with an VPN involved that your IP isn´t the one from the traveling country
trying to accept a booking with more than 1 legs so no direct flight that might bring also the price down.

But the best way to controll the price will be chosing a date what is before and or after the holidays, and don´t book at the time when searching set an price alarm on the portal for the flights and book when the price is going down usualy 10 to 3 days before, you can check that out without having to book just to see if it works like I said ;)

Those are some very good suggestions. Yes setting an alarm will help, because sometimes the prices do go up down and with that can benefit. Thank you for sharing this information, it is useful
