Long drives in Monsoon season are magical specially on the hilly regions which in our local language we call the ghats. This was on our way to Lonavala, one of the mini hill stations which is very nearby to Mumbai. It is a 2-hour drive from the city, quick and easy to reach, the road is also very good so many people prefer to come here over the weekends. On the weekends this place gets completely packed so I prefer to go there on weekdays then it's much better.

Because of the rains now there are waterfalls on the hills and the views are very scenic.
It gets very foggy and you need to drive very carefully on these roads
Speeding and overtaking is a complete No. When driving it is just not about you it is also about the other vehicles on the road so one needs to ensure that they drive very safely on these roads. Normally there is some or the other accident on this road.
The road cuts through the mountains at some places so there are very long tunnels also on this road.
During the weekends this road also gets congested with traffic and then the drive is not as exciting as when the roads are clear. The 2-hour drive was delightful.
