Today morning has been an early start. I am always a little anxious when I have a morning travel, because I am not an early riser and I keep feeling that I may miss my train if I do not wake up on time. And in that bargain I always end up very early to the station. Today also I was 45 minutes before the departure time. That's ok, as my last 2 travels, even though leaving so much more in advance time I could reach just in time for my train.
Today for the first time I am taking a train to travel to my second home out of the city. Normally I always book a Uber and that's expensive, but this is because I also have things to take, and with too much of luggage it's not very comfortable for me to travel by train and cab is preferred. Today I absolutely had no luggage so I thought I will try out with the train and see the convenience part of it. The journey is not bad, it's comfortable, only thing is that my travel time increases, by train it takes me a total of 4 hrs and by cab it takes me 2.5 hrs. The advantage is that the travel cost decreases. By cab to and fro, it costs me around 4500 Rs. and by train to and fro it costs me 1500 Rs, which is a big saving for me. And yes by cab it is very convenient as it's a door to door travel, whereas train has a lot of changes to be made.
As of now I do not own a car, the day I will have a car then the commuting part between my 2 homes will become easier. Actually me and hubby right now do not wish to buy a car here back in India, because we are not staying here for long periods and we feel that for the few days we come here we can manage without a car. As of now the car may become a liability for us maintenance wise. There are only very few times that I miss having a car, otherwise majority of the times I am comfortable with the public transport.
I believe that every choice in our life has some pros and cons to it, then at the end of it just depends on us about what matters more to us. I like to explore everything in life and I am not stuck on anything hard and fast. When hubby is around he would never want to travel by train, he would only want to travel by cab or car, so when he is not around I do all the experimenting.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
I have been walking (and some public transport) for several years now. You're right, it has pros and cons. Like most things in life!
You have a lot of good insights, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your reflections as well. I just believe that our everyday experiences of life has so much to teach us.
