Travel Diaries #Throwbacks - Highlands of Scotland

in travel •  5 months ago

I was going through my picture diary and I came across this beautiful memory of our stay in Scotland. It was some years ago when we visited London, we also put Scotland on our itinerary, it was a short 4 days visit and I wanted to experience more of the local life of the place in this time. After doing some research I finally selected on one of the highland county called Perthshire. From London we had taken a overnight bus journey to Edinburgh and from there we hired a car to go up to Perthshire.

I had booked a homestay on Air BnB, I will always remember this because it was my first ever stay booked on Air BnB and it turned out to be a very pleasant one. The lady whose villa we had booked was an author and mainly wrote ghost stories, she had offered me to read, but then I am not at all a fan of ghost stories so I had to politely refuse her.

She had two cottages, one where she lived and the other one which she was renting it. A very well furnished accommodation. The best part of the place was the view, it was all open with green fields around everywhere that we could see. The next house was like 300 meters away. For meals she had offered us to prepare some traditional scottish cuisine on an extra charge. We were more then delighted with her offer, because that's what we wanted, to experience the local way of life, so living in a scottish house, have scottish meals, listening to stories of a local, all of it was just what we wanted.

Scotland is also famous for Castles, so during our 4 days stay here, we visited a couple of castles and went around the highlands. It was an amazing holiday.

This was again at one of the Castles where you could take a picture in one of their traditional outfits. It's not the best picture, but I still have some memory

The drive in these highlands is simply breathtaking.
