Last September, I traveled from Oklahoma to Bellingham, Washington to visit my oldest son, Steve. This was my longest trip car-camping and I had an amazing week on the road.
I drove up through Kansas and Idaho, sleeping mostly at designated rest areas, except for the 2 nights in Portneuf in a BLM campground, which was absolutely wonderful in autumn.
After arriving in Bellingham, my son (who works full time) suggested some places for me to sightsee while in the area, and one of them is lovely Whatcom Falls Park within city limits.
There is an actual waterfall in the park, which attracts hundreds of tourists every week along with local families.
In the picture below, a young deer approached me deep in the park paths and stayed for a moment before going on his way.
