In September, 2021, my trip to Washington was off to a slow start. I really wanted to be out of the state of Oklahoma by the time the sun set, but I also wanted to drive a little slower and enjoy the trip. Of course, this put me way behind my expectations of being over the Kansas border by sundown.
I pulled into the Black Kettle Campground in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, just as the sun was setting, and so I missed seeing how beautiful the lake was that night. But the next morning, I woke up to this beautiful and calm spot.
