El gran viaje de la ruta 40 en moto de norte a sur: la novena etapa desde Malargüe hasta Chos Malal. [ESP-ENG]

Converso con algunos amigos y con el dueño de una tienda para conocer el estado de la ruta ya que no se preanunciaba un buen tiempo, algo de lloviznas, ruta resbaladiza. En fin, para un motociclista son todos motivos de preocupación.

Pero como no quería perder más tiempo en este viaje maravilloso me largué de Malargüe apenas comenzó a clarear el día.

De esta manera llegaré a la mitad de la Ruta 40. En otras palabras, a mi llegada a Chos Malal, habré cumplido la mitad de mi sueño.

Me esperaba de nuevo una buena dosis de ripio, un elemento al cuál me he ido acostumbrando en esta travesía.

I talk with some friends and with the owner of a store to know the state of the route since good weather was not announced, some drizzle, slippery route. In short, for a motorcyclist they are all causes for concern.

But since I didn't want to waste any more time on this wonderful trip, I left Malargüe as soon as the day began to dawn.

In this way I will reach the middle of Route 40. In other words, upon my arrival at Chos Malal, I will have fulfilled half of my dream.

A good dose of gravel was waiting for me again, an element to which I have become accustomed on this journey.

Rumbo a Chos Malal. / Heading for Chos Malal.

Entre Malargüe y Chos Malal hay un paso de frontera que lleva a Colbún en Chile después de atravesar angostos desfiladores, cumbres nevadas y admirar la maravillosa obra que ha hecho la naturaleza con la cordillera de Los Andes.

Si tienes la posibilidad de recorrero esta ruta haz todos los pasos de fronteras que puedas. El papeleo para entrar a Chile es tedioso per el paisaje bien vale la pena.

Vuelvo al ripio y a desandar los kilómetros.

Between Malargüe and Chos Malal, there is a border crossing that leads to Colbún in Chile after crossing narrow defiles, snowy peaks and admiring the wonderful work that nature has done with the Andes mountain range.

If you have the possibility to travel this route, do all the border crossings that you can. The paperwork to enter Chile is tedious but the landscape is well worth it.

I go back to the gravel road and retrace the kilometers.

Vuelvo al ripio pero no todo es plano. Hay cumbres, hay puentes, y debajo de los puentes corren ríos, algunos caudalosos y otros más tranquilos.

Todos con aguas cristalinas que provienen del deshielo.

Y en uno de ellos, con piedras negras, algo que llama mi atención me paro.

Me alcanza un motociclista suizo con el cuál charlamos un rato.

I go back to the gravel but not everything is flat. There are peaks, there are bridges, and under the bridges rivers run, some mighty and others quieter.

All with crystal clear waters that come from the thaw.

And in one of them, with black stones, something that catches my attention I stop.

I am caught by a Swiss motorcyclist with whom we chat for a while.

Pensé que el recorrido de este tramo era más largo pero de repente me encuentro con un cartel que señala 49 kms para llegar a Chos Malal.

Creí que estaba más lejos.

En total será una etapa con menos de 100 kms, mucho menos de las que ha ye recorrido.

I thought that the route of this section was longer but suddenly I find a sign that indicates 49 kms to get to Chos Malal.

I thought it was further away.

In total it will be a stage with less than 100 kms, much less than those that have already been covered.

Hay algunas lagunas

there are some gaps

un cañadón grandísimo

a huge canyon

y montañas erosionadas de varios colores.

and eroded mountains of various colors.

Y así llego a Chos Malal, el omblido de la Ruta 40.

Encuentro a unos ciclistas franceses que me indican donde puedo acampar. El ayudarse, pasarte una información, darte una mano es la regla número uno en esta pasión de aventureros.

And so I come to Chos Malal, the navel of Route 40.

I meet some French cyclists who show me where I can camp. Helping each other, passing you information, lending you a hand is the number one rule in this passion for adventurers.

Chos Malal, un nombre que suena raro pronunciarlo. En realidad es un nombre mapuche cuyo signficado es Corral Amarillo.

Lleva ese nombre porque esta encorralado por los cerros cordilleranos que tienen ese color.

Antes Chos Malal era la capital de Neuquén y fue un punto estratégico en la Conquista del Desierto que, con la excusa de la seguridad y la protección de los colonos -en realidad grandes terratenientes-diezmó a toda la población indígena de la Patagonia.

Los mapuches eran uno de los grupos aborígenes nativos de Sudamérica.

Con ese recuerdo en mi meoria me preparo para una nueva aventura.

Chos Malal, a strange sounding name to pronounce. It is actually a Mapuche name whose meaning is Corral Amarillo.

It bears that name because it is enclosed by the Andean hills that have that color.

Before Chos Malal was the capital of Neuquén and it was a strategic point in the Conquest of the Desert that, with the excuse of security and protection of the settlers - actually large landowners - decimated the entire indigenous population of Patagonia.

The Mapuches were one of the native aboriginal groups of South America.

With that memory in my memory I prepare for a new adventure
