Hive, Blurt, and Steem are three great platforms that are the BEST for smaller creators and free speech activists who want to get some income for their work. I've been around these parts for a few years and I've loved every minute of it. The people I've met here are great and the crypto I've earned is enough. I'm not a large creator on any of these platforms but I see the great value in using them.

well, when it comes to hive and steem, it depends on whether you want to continue to participate in the reward system and for your posts to be visible in trending.
Unfortunately, downvotes make the "freedom of speech" on hive and steem the same as on YT, so if you publish something politically incorrect, you can, but what does it matter if your reach is limited and your publications are demonetized
Try running a serious website without monetization :P Let's be honest, there is no free media without money
the good thing is that no one can block or delete your profile or posts. Although you can mute these posts.

The downvotes are the major downside of Steem and Hive because people like to abuse their power. The higher their staked power, the more likely people will be harshly hurt by a downvote. This is where Blurt outcompetes.
