I watched today a movie about human nature.

The movie is called Dogville, released in 2003, with the famous actress Nicole Kidman. And there are some other famous actors who played there, like : Paul Bettany, James Caan and Patricia Clarkson. But the main role is the role of a girl who turned into a slave played by Nicole Kidman.

You can read more about the movie on Wikipedia here : Dogville.

One of the main reasons to watch the movie is the special way of recording it. It's the first time when I watched a movie that looks like theater. So, if you never visited the theater, it's worth watching it to feel the atmosphere of the theater. It's also an intellectual movie based on a novel. So, while watching it, you feel like listening to an audiobook.

I also liked how it's divided into a few parts and each one has a naming. So, before watching any part of the movie, you already form an imagination about that, but you may find surprises. Because you never guess what the actors will do the next. It's like opening a gift where each box surprise you with something new. You may never guess what will happen in the end of each part. It's really an interesting feeling. Sometimes you may feel bored watching it, but when you listen carefully to what each actor is saying and when you think about the reasons every action happened, you may enjoy watching it.

Returning to the story. It's a movie about a girl who is stuck in a little town with good-looking people. I mean they give the impression of being good and polite, but they never lose the chance to use someone if he/she is weak. In this situation the girl turned into a slave slowly, step by step. Because she was in a situation that didn't allow her to be courageous to say ''No'' to those who were using her. It's a story about people who get a little power and how they can misuse it getting it. It's a story about human nature and how a good person can turn into a very bad one.

Paul Bettany played the role of the guy who was in love with that girl, but because of his cowardliness he didn't help her at all even if he wanted so much. So, my conclusion is the following : ''If someone doesn't do anything about stopping the crime, he/she is a participant in the crime.''

On the other hand, the girl had many chances to run away from the town, but she didn't do that. And that makes me think that she enjoyed her suffering. Maybe she is a kind of masochist, and I don't really understand such people. I also know about an experiment where people put a dog on the chain for a long time, and when they removed the chain, he couldn't run because he was used to the place he could move in before. And maybe the fear of the unknown sometimes makes the living being accept their destiny instead of trying to change it. Even if there is a big danger.

Of course, I won't spoil it for you if you want to watch the movie. But I would say I didn't like how the movie ended. It's so tough because I think that people who did bad things shouldn't be punished that hard. Even if they did that on purpose. The way that happened in the movie, I'm against that. They could have been punished the same way they treated the girl. With the same methods and during the same time. But I'm talking about only the adult people who already know what they do. I'm against punishing children because they are still little, and they can be educated and taught. My thesis here : ''The parents are responsible for what their kids are doing and if they allow their kids to do bad things, that means parents should be punished, but not kids.''

After all, I think after watching the movie that people are very complex, and we never know how they will act depending on the situation they are put in.

But after all there are human qualities that each one should have, no matter how hard the situation he/she is in !
