Being stabbed 16 times on his 16th birthday is almost the birth certificate of the "16-year-old killer". The birth certificate of the 16-year-old killer is characteristic of the serial killer in the origin story of the movie Totally Killer.
I would like to talk about a movie that I think should not be missed for thriller lovers and that I find successful and blended with comedy. Totally Killer was the movie of the day that I chose to watch with its story about the reappearance of a serial killer who appeared years ago and killed 3 16-year-old girls after 35 years.
Some scenes in the movie are reminiscent of the movie Scream and even though it has a similar storyline, it manages to distinguish its own category with its ever-changing structure and connections to the past. The time travel detail was just one of the differences. The story, which changes according to each step taken, positively affects the immersion of the movie and manages to give the audience more than one twist.
Kieman Shipka, who gives life to Jamie, the main character of the movie, successfully reflected the atmosphere of both today and the 1980s. Jamie, who lives in today's world and lost his mother to a serial killer, wants to time travel to 1987 and change the flow of time by preventing the first murder.
Most of the film takes place in the 1980s, and the costumes, locations, music and the way it reflects the behavior of the people of that period really manage to take the audience back to that period. Apart from the comedy added to the thriller and horror genre, the most prominent detail of the movie was the way it showed the difference between 2023 and 1987. Perhaps it would be unfair to explain this only with costumes, locations and music, because even the behaviors and jokes made you feel the year difference.
Another plus was the mysterious scenes that were added in and revealed as the story unfolded. During the time travel, you find yourself completely in the story, and thanks to the fast flowing time, you understand the immersive feature after the movie is over.
I definitely recommend you to watch Totally Killer, which manages to combine concepts such as youth, comedy, time travel, serial killer, horror-thriller, past-future in a single story. I find the movie worth watching even for a glimpse from the world of 2023 to the 1980s. I liked it very much, I hope you will like it too.
