The title of the post "Guru Dakshina" is a Sanskrit terminology which means "teachers payment". As per Indian mythology a student owe a repay or a tribute to their teachers as thanks giving. In Indian culture teachers are considered next to God and guru dakshina is a gratitude given by the scholar to their mentors, in which they were obliged to give them any thing asked in their lifetime without hesitation.
A teacher had the privilege to ask any thing to their students including their life.
Anyhow, these are the reference of history. In the present scenario if a student gives an assignment on time itself is a big deal, leave about gratitude and respect. These all had just become age old, out dated customs for the millennials.
But looking at this momento I felt good and acknowledged as a teacher. And felt that it was very responsible thought by the students to offer a plant instead of flowers. A bouquet or any other gift would not have made me feel this way. This is more lively and environmental friendly. By doing this they are avoiding the wastage casued by dead flowers and rather these plants are more long lasting and impactful.

Firstly, I'll put my all efforts to keep it alive. Secondly, when ever I'll look at it, it will remind me of the event, and lastly, it is more eco-friendly and aesthetic for my workplace.

I would like to thank my students for being creative in their thoughts and actions, and making such remarkable offerings for their Gurus (teachers).
