I generated an image of a man with a calculator on Night Cafe for a question about the Blurt Blockchain Explorer.
I am confused.
Blurt Blocks shows that I am charged a Tx Fee when I place an upvote. The system also shows that I receive a Tx Fee when I receive a curation reward.
Every upvote generates a curation reward.
Are we charged two fees for each upvotes or is the blockchain explorer simply showing the second value for reference?
The two transaction fees often show different values. The first transaction fee is usually close to the the transaction amount listed in the little upvote box. The second transaction fee is usually a bit higher.
My Account Was Still Going Backwards
In my last post on this subject, I stated that 4,444 was the magic number where the curation reward for posts would be equal to the fees.
It appears that I was still losing money for my upvotes.
I earned some BLURT author rewards.
I decided to do another test. I bought enough BLURT to bring my account to 5,000 BLURT. I have 4,976 BP and 23 free BLURT for activities.
Assuming that I am charged only one fee per upvote transaction, then the account should be increasing with my upvotes.
If the system charges fees for both upvoting and receiving the reward; then I guess I need to buy another 5,000 BLURT.
BLURT Purchases To Date

I think the best way to determine if an account is going forward or backwards is to look at the transactions between BLURT and the exchanges.
I bought a large block of BLURT on Steem-Engine. All of that BLURT disappeared.
Originally, BLURT used the BLURT symbol on HIVE Engine. I lost 2000 BLURT in attempts to move the funds to BLURT. Here are my BLURT transactions
BLURT then swictched to SWAP.BLURT. I lost 2000 SWAP.BLURT trying to move the funds to BLURT.

- I received one refund for one of the failed transactions.
The table shows that I sent 7653.307 BLURT and SWAP.BLURT tokens from Hive-Engine to BLURT. These coins had a value of $52.32 at the prices listed on CoinGecko.
My BlurtWallet showed that I had 23.857 free BLURT and 4976.216 BLURT POWER which adds up to 5000.073 just before posting. The reported account value was $12.40.
SWAP Programs Are Problematic
I've lost several hundred dollars so far with swaps. If you use a swap; you need to check to make sure the swap program is working. Check the blockchain explorer on both sides of the equation.
I made the mistake of sending multiple transactions to @blurtlink for 1000 BLURT. I believe that they confused the transactions because they were for the same amount. So, send odd amounts to the swap so that you can identify each transactions.
Conclusion
I now have 5,000 BLURT. Will the account go forward? Or will I continue to lose funds for each upvote.
If I am being charged two transaction fees for each upvote, then I will need to acquire another 5,000 BLURT to hit the magic number.
The second question is: Will my BLURT winnings ever exceed the amount of BLURT that I sent to the platform?
I am hopeful about the second question.
I've sent $52.32 worth of tokens to BLURT. I received 4508 BLURT for the 7653 BLURT I sent. My current account value is $12.55. It is possible that I will eventually come out ahead.

Yeah, the fees are all very confusing .. I’m just happy that they are getting burned … and hopefully eventually reducing the inflation to zero . I think @ctime has a great project to burn millions and millions of Blurt by rewarding people for sending Blurt to @null…. as you have discovered. … just keep posting and powering up, you will eventually earn a ton from Curation. I earn more $$$$ on Blurt than I do anywhere else. Steemit, Hive, Bilpcoin etc …. We just need Blurt to go to $1 and we will all be very happy.
