For those of you that don't know- Songkran is the Thai "new year". The biggest highlight about this celebration is the big water fights that happen. There are other festivities but they aren't as exciting as the water fights. If you come to Thailand during Songkran, bring extra, extra, EXTRA clothes! You will definitely get wet, I guarantee it. With all this "covid", who can travel anywhere?
On a happier note, I started the water fight part of Songkran a little early. My family and I took a little day trip to a park. We fed some fish, walked around, took pictures and played like children at the playground. If given the opportunity, even teenagers just can't control the urge to release their inner child. Going back to the early water fight part. While my cousins and I were feeding the large catfish at the park's pond or small lake, a group of fat pigeons decided to scare the fish by flying over them. This caused the fish to flip out and splash all over the place and I was the closes one to this catastrophe and my legs got soaked! I don't have any pictures of any of this in action but I do have piccies of my feeding the fish, I even touched them, it was really slimy.
I had a bar in Pattaya, and had to turn the water off for the day after the ladies in my bar hospitalised an Indian tailor that begged not to be soaked as he was on the way to work. I had to pick up the bill, patch him up, repair his moped, my bar hence my fault. That is why I turned the water off for a day.
He tried to ride past fast, when the water hit his face he went down, at speed, cost me quite a few baht that day.
Sa Wad Dee Wan Songkran!! Wish you and your family for the best :)
Btw, I went outside today and saw people were playing water fight and I had to drive pass them and of course I got wet 😀 It made me feel good though. I miss that feeling. Since Covid stared we haven't done that for two years. Songkran is my favorite holiday in Thailand :)
If anyone wants a free car wash, NOW IS THE TIME!
Looks like a fun day for Sonkran even though certainly not what it used to be. We got a little wet driving through the street with all the bars on it. Those guys still know how to have a good time. Nice blog. I too am in Thailand. Now following!
Are those the catfish into dinner ponds?
Your inner child! how sweet :-)
