Our Kitchen Flooded!

in story •  3 years ago

One morning I decided to be useful and I did the laundry and the washing up. While I was creating "soap-men" with the washing-up liquid I felt something wet on my feet. I looked down to find that the pipe where the water does down was overflowing. I was like wtf! I turned off the tap and that helped. I grabbed all the rags I could find and took care of the mess like a big girl. I thought that was the end of my daily excitement...I was wrong.

15 minutes later, as I was checking up on the laundry, I heard gurgling coming from somewhere. I came running back to the kitchen to find that more water was coming out of the pipe. This time it wasn't stopping. My brain quickly turned its attention to the cardboard boxes on the floor. I managed to grab them just before the water touched them. I then proceeded to wake my father up to tell him that the kitchen was flooding. I've always wanted an indoor swimming pool but this isn't what I envisioned. I don't have a picture of our kitchen as a swimming pool because I was too fixated on cleaning up the mess. So here's a more exaggerated version I found on pixabay.

I called our landlord and told him we has a problem. He called the plumber and he said that he would replace the whole pipe. The previous people who lived in the house had the same problem but they "fixed it", which in Thailand means to stop using the thing that causes the problem. Luckily, we didn't have to pay any charge because we didn't cause this issue. Everything is good now but too bad that I didn't have my swimming costume with me. I would have gone swimming.

Oh yes! I've never seen it so clean.

And in the train of cause and effect, you didn't figure that the cause of the "second flood" was not the trickle of the tap but the torrent from our "perfectly connected" washing machine outflow! ;-) So much for us fixing stuff.

Now we know why the kitchen is a step down from the living room ;-)

I'm glad you got everything sorted in the end without too much damage.

Huge laughs on this 😅
