Hi Friends,
With the global pandemic, its no surprise that the airlines took a big in a lot of ways. Here is the two year chart on American Airlines:
Given the slowdown in their business, they are looking to make up lost time and have been doing some price gouging to try and get their revenues and profits back up. With gas prices not being very low any longer, costs of everything increasing (labor, insurance, etc), it is understandable there would be some price creep, but some of the stories are making headlines on the price gouging.
I have a little bit of a bearish view of the airlines, only because they did not fall as much as you would have expected during the pandemic, so the upside isn't as good with the reopening. I think other reopening stocks will do better - casinos, restaurants, hotels, etc.
What are your thoughts on the airlines as an investment where they currently ar.
Thank you,
Brian
