Starlink Unboxing

in starlink •  3 years ago

Whaaaat!??? No ethernet port!!! Connects to a wi-fi base station so you have to connect your devices to the wi-fi router it comes with, no way to blend Starlink internet with your current fibre line, unless you use a wi-fi repeater to intercept the signal feed it to a WAN port of your existing router.

Huge kick in the gut not to be able to connect an ethernet cable. There is a business version but not available in my area, that might have ethernet but unable to confirm.

Overall was pretty cool to receive this and I now have backup internet in extreme events that may knock out my terrestrial line.

Maybe we should do more unboxing videos as a community?

Cheers!

I've seen a few videos reviewing the Starlink system. The first model had ethernet ports, so you could connect your own routers and switches. The newer model doesn't have any ports, only wifi, which I think is quite a stupid move. I wonder if they're taking their cues from Apple who like to remove ports and make their products shittier since a few years now.

Seems they have an ethernet adaptor

(see at 28 secs)

The new model is as bad as shit! Wish they make use of customers feedback and remodel it!

Awesome!
I hope Elon Joins Blurt soon 😄💪.

Lol... Okay

Looks pretty easy to set up. I was expecting to see so many smaller parts and components that would probably need a screw driver to get into place.

Congrats on your new Starlink device.

You really need the Starlink @megadrive because of the kind of work that you are involved in right now, being able to get an alternative Internet connection if your wired connection goes off for some reason.

I believe that the subscription right now for a month is about $100?

Yeah correct, it is around that price. Same as fiber more or less. But great to have backup internet in case of outages from natural disasters or other reasons.

Oh I see, that is the Starlink of Elon Musk. They said that it has 50-250Mbps speed without data cap, that is amazing.

Yeah! more unboxing videos sir.

We often give gifts to re-confirm or establish our connection with others, which means that they're a reflection of both the giver and the receiver, as well as their unique relationship. Giving a gift to someone we care about allows us to communicate our feelings and appreciation for them.

This gift from a 'Big Name' (Elon Musk) in the tech world of the 21st century speaks volumes. Keep the flag flying @megadrive because Blurt is the future. For me, this is a testament that Blurt is going places.

Cheers!

wow awesome Wi-Fi antenna, fiber optic has amazing speed and this Wi-Fi antenna is different unlike the Om-Ni Antenna I used

oh, wrong model. says you can buy a link - how deeply ironic.

Just like existing providers of satellite internet, Starlink wants to sell internet access and particularly to people in rural areas and other parts of the world who don't already have access to high-speed broadband.

Starlink's business is accelerating, as well. In February last year, it was disclosed that Starlink was serving more than 10,000 customers. Now, after expanding preorders to more potential customers, releasing a second-gen home internet satellite dish and exploring the possibility of providing in-flight Wi-Fi for passenger aircraft, Starlink has shipped more than 100,000 satellite internet terminals to customers in 14 countries.
