Splinterlands | Kron and Llama Saga
I recently wrote about how difficult it is to beat a team with the Llama and Kron the Undying. It gave a peek into the fact that the Llama's summoner stats and the Kron's self-healing ability proves almost undefeatable. Almost, did I say? Yes, because we do come out on top once in a while.
Here is another battle I won on the back of the earlier one, which tasted so good. 😊 What made the battle even more fun was that at the last stage, it was just magic monsters battling it out on both sides.
So, why do we spend so much time in this section instead of the battle section below? Ah, my bad. Let's go. But before that, let's take a moment to learn about Splinterlands. After all, that's where you will find this pair.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning. By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling it for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too.

The Llama and the Kron | The Saga Continues
It's a no-brainer why the Llama and Kron's combination is such a deadly one, but for the newbies, let me speak about it briefly. You see, the Kron is a magic attack monster with an attack value of 3. It has a self-heal ability, and that makes it a formidable competitor just on its own. Also, it has a health value of 10.
The Llama is a legendary summoner that increases the health of all friendly monsters by 2. In addition, it also has the cleanse and last-stand ability. So, if the last monster with the Llama is a self-healing monster, it gets the last stand boost and is extremely difficult to defeat.
Now, you understand what happens when the Llama and the Kron come together. The Kron gets a health boost of two at the beginning of the battle because of the Llama. If the Kron is also the last monster standing, then it gets a further boost to its health, ending up at 18. Also, the magic attack goes up to 5 from 3. Imagine what a strong monster the Kron becomes. If all this is not enough, the Llama also ensures that no affliction affects the Kron because of the cleanse ability. And that is what makes these two a deadly combo.
Anyway, now we head to the battle.
Face-to-Face With The Opponent | Ready for Battle!
This is how the battlefield appeared.
The opponent and I have chosen the Earth Splinter. My team appears at the bottom of the screen with an all-magic attack. The Mushroom seer decreases enemy health by one while the Goblin Psychic in the last position heals my Kron in the first position.
The opponent's team is on top. Notice the Llama being the summoner and their summoner at the last position? That's the classic Llama – Kron combination and placement.
Now, we rumble!
The Battle Rages
The anti-melee rule was in play; hence, neither team had melee monsters. Though the opponent at least had the Halfling as a ranged attacker, I had nothing but magic.
How good was that? It wasn't immediately successful as the opponent's tank had magic reflect. So, with our attack, we also got badgered. However, before the round got over, the opponent's tank was done for.
And by the end of round 3, the opponent's team was done except for the Kron. That summoned the last-stand ability giving the Kron health and attack boost. Notice that the Kron now has an attack value of 4 and a health of 18. Also, because of my Mushroom Seer, the Kron's attack value is 4, else it would have been 5.
GG | I Won!
One of the reasons the opponent using Kron and Llama loses is because they put too much hope on the last-stand ability. I would still win if I had more monsters to tackle the Kron and the self-heal. And that is what happened here.
It took me six more rounds to get the opponent's Kron destroyed. The opponent's Kron was healing by a value of 6, while my monsters delivered an attack value of 8. This means the Kron will succumb over time, and that's what happened.
At the very end of round 9, I won. What fun!! 😊
Want To See The Actual Battle?
For those of you that are not happy with just the screenshots of the battle, here is the battle.

You can play it and see. I've got to admit that it is more fun that way! :)
And There We Go Again!
So you see, the Llama and Kron combination will not consistently deliver. If last-stand is the only thing relied on, there could be a combination like mine that could get the better of the Kron-Llama.
Keep your eyes open, get the best combo, and enjoy Splintering! I hope you enjoyed the post as much as I loved writing it. 😊
