Splinterlands | Coincidence
I have been playing Splinterlands since 2000 and even had a second team playing when my daughter got excited about the game. That team came into existence in 2001 and has been playing alongside me for three years now.
Although for the most part, both the teams were in different leagues, there were overlaps now and then. This would be mostly close to a season's end. Never has it happened that I got both my teams to face each other. I tried for some time to do it, but still, it won’t happen. There were a lot of players for them to come against each other.
That was until now. I wasn’t even trying and my two teams came against each other. That was crazy. Let’s see that battle. But before that, shall we spend a minute getting to know Splinterlands? After all, that’s where you will find all these fun battles, rules, and monsters.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. It was founded in 2018 and is still going strong. The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning. By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling them for as high as $6500. There is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too. And now the sales of the Rebellion packs, the newest of the lot, have also started.

Two Teams | Common Enemy | Each Other
I can only surmise from the wait time that there were not many players playing at that time. And despite me launching the game from two different browsers and almost after each other, both my teams faced off.
This was hilarious. All this while trying to get my teams to fight against each other and it did not happen. And here is a situation where I didn’t even try and it happened.
About time we saw the battle.
The Battle | Frowns and Angry Brows
A quick look at the rule, and let’s get on with the battle.
The battle was one with a 40-mana cap. There were two rules in play – the enrage and fog-of-war. That means, there wouldn’t be sneak, snipe, or opportunity abilities for this play.
The Face-Off Screen
This is how the battlefield appeared.
My team is at the top of the screen and the opponent, who is also me, appears at the bottom. In hindsight, the bottom team did a better job in making the team.
I am curious about who won. 😉
We Battle Hard
By the middle of round 3, my lineup looked like this:
My upper team was getting bludgeoned. Half of the lineup was done for and only the other half remained. Looked like the lower half team’s game.
And The Battle Races to Conclusion
It indeed raced to conclusion.
By round 5 the curtains were down. I won. And I lost. The upper me lost while the lower me won. Well, played me. And better luck next time – me.
😉
A Hard-Fought Battle | An Interesting Result
The very fact that two separate teams of mine fought against each other is kind of hilarious. What can I say? It did happen. I am intrigued by why it happened. Is it because of the recent proposals which cull down the bots? Is that why two humans played against each other? I am not sure, but haven’t come across a similar situation after that.
I loved the battle. How about you? I hope you enjoyed reading about the battle too. You can also look at it live in the link provided below. Have fun! 😊
