Título: Collage, técnica artística que motiva a la creatividad. Por Florencia Renata.
La palabra “Collage” proviene del francés “coller”, que a su vez traduce “pegar”. Consiste en una técnica artística que se construye pegando sus pedazos o trozos obtenidos de otras fuentes. Es como armar con retrasos una imagen más amplia. Pueden formar un todo con una sola imagen o pueden representar escenarios uniendo en espacios varios elementos distintos; superponiéndose uno a otros.

Esta técnica es común en la pintura, pero también es posible emplear sus principios en música, fotografía, incluso en el cine y la literatura. En su representación en las artes plásticas por lo general se utilizan elementos como ilustraciones, fotografías, elementos encontrados en periódicos, revistas, trozos de tela… consiste en colocar capas que permitan mostrar la obra o mensaje final que trata de mostrar y expresar. Se considera que es una técnica artística que permite ampliar y expresar mejor la creatividad, ya que garantiza una buena manera de canalizar emociones, sentimientos, generando una forma cómoda y transformada de expresiones sobre ellas.

Se cree que el collage es de origen francés. Aunque se considera que su inventor fue Pablo Picasso en el año 1912 con su obra “Naturaleza muerta con silla de rejilla”, sin embargo existe una discusión si su invención fue gracias a él o a George Braque. Su importancia se puede encontrar en cuanto a que, como concepto artístico, permite anclar distintas capas de significados y referencias en un mismo plano. Esto no sólo se limita al trabajo gráfico, también se utiliza con material escrito como la literatura, del mismo modo que influye en la música y la danza.

El collage fue empleado por numerosas tendencias artísticas del siglo XX, principalmente por las vanguardias históricas de principios de siglo: el Futurismo, el Cubismo, el Dadismo, el Surrealismo, el Constructivismo… No existe una clasificación propiamente dicha del collage, ya que se trata de un arte con técnicas diversas y amplia creatividad, sin embargo es posible encontrar una pequeña clasificación del siguiente modo: collage de fotos, collage tridimensional, collage de rejilla y collage en mosaico.

Explicación del collage que realicé para ilustrar esta publicación.
Primero hice los dibujos de la luna, las estrellas, la silueta lateral de la edificación, del mismo modo tomé una página de una vieja revista de predicciones anuales, pero cuyas hojas envejecidas me parecieron ideales para mi collage y lo recorte del modo en el que se puede ver en la foto 1.
Para colocarle fondo al collage, (como se muestra en la foto 2), utilicé tiza de color gris y morado, luego pegué las estrellas y la luna. Paso siguiente, para crear una nueva capa, pegué el trozo envejecido de papel y sobre él la silueta de la edificación y la farola. Finalizando de ese modo mi collage.

The word ”Collage“ comes from the French ”coller“, which in turn translates ”to paste". It consists of an artistic technique that is built by gluing together its pieces or pieces obtained from other sources. It's like putting together a bigger picture with delays. They can form a whole with a single image or they can represent scenarios by joining several different elements in spaces; overlapping one another.

This technique is common in painting, but it is also possible to use its principles in music, photography, even in cinema and literature. In its representation in the plastic arts, illustrations, photographs, elements found in newspapers, magazines, pieces of fabric are usually used ... it consists of placing layers that allow to show the work or final message that it tries to show and express. It is considered to be an artistic technique that allows to expand and express creativity better, since it guarantees a good way to channel emotions, feelings, generating a comfortable and transformed form of expressions about them.

The collage is believed to be of French origin. Although it is considered that its inventor was Pablo Picasso in 1912 with his work “Still Life with grid chair”, however there is a discussion whether its invention was thanks to him or to George Braque. Its importance can be found in that, as an artistic concept, it allows anchoring different layers of meanings and references on the same plane. This is not only limited to graphic work, it is also used with written material such as literature, in the same way that it influences music and dance.

Collage was used by numerous artistic trends of the twentieth century, mainly by the historical avant-gardes of the beginning of the century: Futurism, Cubism, Dadism, Surrealism, constructivism... There is no proper classification of collage, since it is an art with diverse techniques and wide creativity, however it is possible to find a small classification as follows: photo collage, three-dimensional collage, grid collage and mosaic collage.

Explanation of the collage I made to illustrate this post.
First I made the drawings of the moon, the stars, the side silhouette of the building, in the same way I took a page from an old magazine of annual predictions, but whose aged leaves seemed ideal for my collage and I cut it the way you can see in photo 1.
To put the background to the collage, (as shown in photo 2), I used gray and purple chalk, then glued the stars and the moon. Next step, to create a new layer, I glued the aged piece of paper and on it the silhouette of the building and the lamppost. That's how I finished my collage.
