গ্রামাঞ্চলে এখনও দেখা যায়, কোনো পরিবারে কন্যা সন্তানের জন্ম হলে পরিবারে অশান্তি দেখা দেয়। আর সেই পরিবারের মেয়ের জন্ম দেওয়া মাকে অনেক কথা শুনতে হয়। কিন্তু আসলেই কি সেই নারী তার মেয়ের জন্য উঠে দাঁড়াচ্ছেন? যদিও মেয়ে শিশু ধীরে ধীরে জন্ম নেয় এবং বড় হয়, কিন্তু পরে দেখা যায় মেয়ে শিশুর ক্ষেত্রে অনেক বৈষম্য রয়েছে। মেয়েটি সব জায়গায় যেতে পারে না। তার মতামতকে প্রাধান্য দেওয়া হবে না। মা বাবা যা বলবেন তা মেনে নিতে হবে।
পড়ার প্রতিবন্ধকতা:
মেয়ে শিশুটি যখন বড় হয় তখন সে পঞ্চম শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত লেখাপড়া করে। এরপর শুরু হয় সেই দশ বছরের বা এগারো বছরের মেয়ে শিশুর জীবনের প্রতিবন্ধকতা। আর আমাদের পুরুষতান্ত্রিক সমাজে অনেকেই বলে মেয়েদের পড়ার দরকার নেই। তাদের শুধু ঘরের কাজ জানতে হবে।
ফলাফল:
একটি ছেলে যে শুধুমাত্র তার পরিবারের যত্ন নিতে পারে তা সত্য নয়। কারণ আমরা আমাদের চারপাশে দেখি এমন পরিবার আছে যাদের মেয়ে নেই, ছেলে আছে কিন্তু সেই ছেলে মেয়েরা বুড়ো হয়ে গেলে বাবা-মাকে দেখে না। বৃদ্ধ বাবা-মাকে ভিক্ষা করে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করতে হয়। আর কোনো এক সময়ে সেই বাবা-মা হয়তো না খেয়ে থাকতে পারেন এবং বিনা চিকিৎসায় মারা গেছেন।
মেয়েদের জন্য শিক্ষাগত প্রয়োজনীয়তা:
সন্তানের জন্য তার পরিবারে তার প্রথম স্কুল। আর মা ই এই বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক। এবং একজন মা কখনই ভাবেন না যে তিনি তার সন্তানের থেকে আলাদা। একজন শিক্ষিত নারী একজন শিক্ষিত মা, একজন শিক্ষিত মা এবং এই নারী-শিশুকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার মূল ভূমিকা।
