While no one should expect a fictional television show to necessarily offer historical accuracy, there is a certain irony in the way in which Venezuela is portrayed in this case. Venezuela's problems are explained away as caused by things like nationalism and other minor or non-factors. Socialism isn't even mentioned. It is explained that those who promise social justice will be Venezuela's saviors. The irony is that this exactly what Hugo Chavez promised before he was elected. If there is a line between social justice and socialism, it was crossed long, long ago in Venezuela.
