Stockers are killing it.

What do you call people that fill up shelves at shopping malls? For the record, I'm seeing different names on google, but 'stockers' appears to be the fanciest. Let's go with that!

I'm beginning to believe that these set of people are very psychological in their restocking approach. They always change the position of things in the mall so you won't just go straight to what you want whenever you come inside the mall. It's almost as if they want you to roam the mall like a tourist before you see whatever you are looking for.

There is this shopping mall I visit in my area. I've always noticed how they change the position of goods but after today's shopping experience, it became clear that this arrangement method they adopt surely has to be some sort of marketing strategy ~ The type I didn't get to study during my days in the marketing lecture halls. Haha.

On a serious note, every time I come here to pick up a thing or two, I always notice how they switch the position of goods. I'm the kinda guy that likes to leave places like these as soon as I come in. I usually know what I want to buy and I like to know where to find them. Once I tick all the stuff on my shopping list, I make payment and bid farewell to the mall.

But, ever since I started visiting this particular mall, the only thing that remains in the same spot is payment point. Every other thing is subject to change. Just when you think you already know where everything is, they change it. Haha.

That's so weird and also funny at the same time.

Let's try and figure out the reason behind these changes they make.

You will have to tell me what you think may be the reason for their action. In my case, I like to see it this way;

If you roam around with money in your hand, you end up wanting to buy whatever catches your fancy.

In a nutshell, the rearrangement they do is targeted at people who frequent the malls. They care about customer satisfaction, but they sure don't want you to know the position of everything with your eyes closed. After all, you are not in your house. Haha.

While trying to find what you need, your eyes can pick out what you want and you may end up buying more than you originally planned to buy.

This sure sounds like a smart move from the stockers, right? I may be wrong though.

Why do you think they keep changing position of goods?

You're guessing it right. They just want people to buy more. Because while looking for something we already knew where it is, we may time something else with us. I don't know if you ever visited IKEA, but those guys are even more crazy than that. They have one entry and only one exit, and you will have to pass all the shop and it's so huge, to exist. It's like a maze where you will have to find the exit, or you're lost there buying everything. lol

Man, stockers are really hitting it big with this tactics. Little wonder why people end up spending more than they originally planned to do whenever they go to such places.
