If you never played League of Legends and dont like anime or animation in general, I still heavily recommend Arcane. If you havent watched Season 1 there are some mild spoilers in the Season 2 Trailer. The rest of my review wont spoil Season 1 though.

Arcane is the best piece of media I consumed ever. The most impressive thing to me was that every action of every character in Season 1 was believable. My main criticism of Season 2 Act 2 is that some of the actions dont make a lot of sense and character development seems a little too accellerated. However Season 2 has really upped the animation quality, the emotion, the drama, the epicness, the relation to modern culture. I was permanently crying during Season Act 1.

Animation

Easily the best animation I ever saw in my life. But I love Arcane for the characters and world building. The ground breaking animation is just the cherry on top.

Strong female characters

If you search on Youtube for a guy named schnee, he made an excellent analysis of how Arcane writes women and how it writes men. I highly recommend watching both after you watched Arcane.

Back in the days before we had Arcane, we always had to point to Sarah Connor from Terminator and the Alien Series to have examples of strong women. Arcane delivers not one, but a whole cast of female characters who are very strong in very differing, believable ways. All with their own flaws and obstacles to overcome. Jinx, Vi, Cait, Mel, Ambessa, Selvika; all of them are unique and have a ton of agency in the plot. They are likable, realistic and dont have to put men down or succeed in everything to feel like strong characters.
