When life becomes frustrating and filled with regrets...time begins to count backwards..

What would you if you find yourself back in your younger self?

18 Again is a remake of an American fantasy comedy film which was directed by Burr Steers in 2009 titled "17 Again"". A story that follows a 37 years old man who became his younger self at 17years after an accident. The Korean make tried to portray a good version of the original if not even better, that is; if I'm not being biased. Maybe because I saw this one first and I got all the emotions in from here.

Directed by Ha Byung-hoon and written by Kim Do-yeon, An Eun-Bin, Choi Yi-Ryun. It starred Kim Ha-Neul, Yoon Sang-Hyun, Lee Do-Hyun, Kim gang-Hyun, Roh Jeong-Eui, Ryeo-Un amongst many wonderful others.

With another shot at life at a younger age, a 37 years old man would build from the pieces he once gave up on....

The drama series follows the life of Hong Dae-Young, who has been so unlucky in life. On the verge of getting divorce, trying to build a relationship with his kids and at the same trying to secure a promotion at his place of work which nonetheless went south. Not being in control of his life as it spiral out of control, continually made things worse as he began to lose himself slowly in the process. It shows a wife who clings to the hope of achieving her dream someday and kids who had their own demon to face.

Getting another shot at life in a younger body became a blessing in disguise as he strives to do better with his new chance. Bridging the gap between himself and his kids, also finding a way to be close to his wife again. It was in those moments he realised what had been missing....

Maybe? Just maybe If we were given a way to go to the future and see what would become of us then we avoid things that'd cause regrets. That's if it is even possible..

I bet we all have regrets, while some people are actually lucky to have another chance at life, not becoming "18 again" in the real sense but being opportune to start afresh, make new decisions/choices....others are not presented that same opportunity. The story portrayed real life issues that one could easily relate to ranging from the daily struggles of life, regrets, unfulfilled dreams, family relationship et al. It was able to capture its audience with a simple yet touching storyline that was very relatable. Although, a remake it was still able to make it's mark with the help of good cast and performance.

The cast did a good job bringing the story to life. I particularly enjoyed Lee Do Hyun's performance as the 18 years old Hong Dae Young. His expressions were very similar to his older self which of course is a different character but you'd think he acted both as their actions....manner of expression and gestures were all the same. Yoo Sang Hyun also did good as the older Dae Young giving us a good screen time. Another character I like is Ko Deok-jin (Kim Gang-Hyun), he was one funny guy lol. I mean I literally had a good laugh each time he was on screen. Oh well, I did enjoy watching the characters in play as they all did their bits making for a nice drama series to see.

18 Again, gave a good ride of relatable life lessons, leaving us with something to think about, on valuing relationship with family and living life to its fullest. A drama series with lovely family and friendship moments coupled with a good laugh. So for my kdrama lovers, what do you think about this one?
