Francesco Muschitiello, an author on the study and assistant professor of geography at the University of Cambridge, said the findings were worrisome because the early warming suggests there might be a flaw in the models scientists use to predict how the climate will change.
"The Arctic Ocean has been warming up for much longer than we previously thought," Muschitiello told CNN. "And this is something that's a bit unsettling for many reasons, especially because the climate models that we use to cast projections of future climate change do not really simulate these type of changes."

Muschitiello said it's not clear how much of a role, if any, human-caused climate change played in the early Arctic warming, and more research is needed.

My house gets flooded when the rain gets heavy, it was not that years ago.
We get 6’ of snow some winters, it was like that many years ago when I was a kid.
We have a Mini Ice Age every year between November and April.
Sometimes it snows in May.
The weather is always changing here.
I hope that your area there won't suffer freak weather changes like in some places in the US where it is hot now and then will snow after a few hours 😆

The article is suggesting that the current climate models have failed to take into account the natural heating of the Arctic Ocean caused by the expansion of warmer Atlantic waters into the region before the Industrial Revolution.
This actually means, contrary to your interpretation, that the climate models need to add this heating force in addition to the heating caused by greenhouse gas emissions. This means that the current climate models may be under-reporting the rate of global heating, especially in the Arctic.
You forgot to add this crucial quote by one of the authors of the study,
In light of this, I still accept the current evidence for human induced climate change.
If the current climate models have failed to take into account the natural heating … then they are wrong.
