This is what happened: A guy named Douglas Coupland wrote a book titled "Generation X" which noted that people born after the baby boom (1960-1965) would get the demographic shaft.
The powers that be decided the name "Generation X" was too cool of a name to waste on post boomers and decided that Generation X would refer to people born between 1965 and 1980.
So, I was part of Generation X for about a year. I was sad when they changed the classification.
