Sanctuary! There are 24 wildlife sanctuaries in Bangladesh. The word sanctuary is formed by the union of the words 'Abhay' and 'Aranya' in Bengali. The word 'Abhay' in Bengali means 'fearless' or fearless, And 'forest' means 'forest' or 'jungle'.

Sanctuary is a forested area where the safety of wildlife is ensured and hunters are not allowed to enter to keep their breeding and habitat safe. A forest is a sanctuary where animals are allowed to roam freely.

Normally, forests are declared as sanctuaries by the government or the executive authorities to ensure safe environment for wildlife, their normal or extended breeding environment, normal number of wildlife and safe conservation of trees or medicinal plants.

At the Government Azizul Haq College in Bogra, the environmental organization of my life, the students, declared a bird sanctuary in 2016. As a result, it has been possible to stop bird hunting on campus. The college administration, archers and general students are also quite concerned about this.
Nature lovers are very much aware of wildlife. Everyone is vigilant enough for the safe habitat of wildlife and the safety of breeding grounds.

We need to think more concisely about the word sanctuary or sanctuary. As if sanctuaries have been created for human beings and other animals and plants on earth.
Below are some statistics based on the fact that Bangladesh has not built a human sanctuary in the last few years.

Suicide: One person commits suicide every forty seconds in Bangladesh. An average of 35 people per day. 14,000 people have committed suicide in 2021.

Deaths in road accidents: According to the Red Safety Foundation, there were 5,381 road accidents in the country in 2021. 6,264 people were killed and 8,046 injured in these accidents. Among the dead were 603 students of different educational institutions. According to them, more than 18 people die on the road every day.

Disappearance: According to human rights organizations, 614 people have been reported missing after being identified by law enforcement in the last 15 years. Although most of those people were found alive and dead, at least 200 are still missing.

Therefore, besides creating wildlife sanctuaries, it is very important to create sanctuaries for the people of Bengal. The people of Bengal have to do this. So that people can walk freely, people have safe roads, security of life.

In any case, even if infrastructure development, industrial revolution and grand projects are made, human development will not happen in real sense. This requires the creation of human sanctuaries. And take strong action on that.
