Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII[a] is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation Portable. First released in 2007, the game is a prequel to the 1997 video game Final Fantasy VII and is a part of the metaseries Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, which includes other products related to the original game.

First off am a big fan of big swords and the fact that Zack Fair the protagonist has one makes it cool. I first learnt about the final fantasy series after watching Advent children final fantasy 7, the animation caught my eye and later when I started playing PSP games it came up with crisis core amongst most top 10 playlist.
The game covers the events prior to the PC game Final fantasy 7 where it tells of the events of Zack and also Sephiroths turn to the dark side.

Features

First I would say it features quite an interesting combat system with a special move governed by a roulette and randomly selects unlocked specials based on links created with people.

It's not really open world with much degree of freedom but it's something you may not pay much attention too while fighting the crazy enemies.

It's got a good visual to it especial coming to the cutscenes and a lovely poem "loveless" is something you should prepare to listen to.

It only features using one character but it's not turn based like most standard final fantasy earlier games. And no much weapons appearance customization.

Combining and customizing materia to see what new types you can produce with more powerful effect and new types of fighting skills.

What I would say I like most is the great and touching storyline to me. And also the battle system with use of different materia and finally when I obtained the buster sword of Angeal final . The summons as well and enough side quests.
Overall it's the story and gameplay that makes it an awesome game with replayability.

Unlike other final fantasy games that are turn based, this features a single button press for attacks and to toggle through skills and then attack as well so most times you may want to arrange the attack types and magic types in the order of your playstyle. As you battle the roulette selects special moves for you and Zack executes. Also you and block and Dodge as well.
It's not really a game with muh puzzle but there can be tasks to carry out as part of the mission objectives.
My major part of the game is where I can't wait to get the buster sword and wield it. The game has fair amounts of stages from factories to forest to towns and snowing areas and caves. Overall the battles are not entirely though but you may want to play side quests to level up and get good lots, there are secret lots that grant 999 damage in the side quest if you can find it.

SOLDIER's Zack Fair, a naive and friendly young man, and his stern but kind mentor Angeal Hewley are dispatched to Wutai to support the Shinra war effort.[16] However, during the fighting, Angeal disappears,[17] and Zack is appointed to find both him and an already missing SOLDIER, Genesis Rhapsodos.[18] Zack, accompanied by Tseng, learns that Genesis and Angeal have deserted Shinra,[19] and, as such, Zack and Sephiroth are assigned to kill them.[20] With help from Dr. Hollander, a scientist with a vendetta against Shinra, Genesis creates an army of clones to attack Shinra headquarters.[21] After the forces are defeated, Zack and Sephiroth track down Hollander's secret laboratory,[22] and learn that Hollander had used both Genesis and Angeal as part of "Project G", an attempt to create supersoldiers infused with the extraterrestrial lifeform Jenova's cells.[23] Sephiroth faces off against Genesis, while Zack pursues Hollander.[24] However, Angeal is intent on keeping Hollander alive as he wants to find a way to return to normal, and so he prevents Zack from killing the doctor by knocking Zack into the slums of Midgar.[25]

Zack recovers to find Aerith tending to him.[26] After they spend some time together, Zack returns to SOLDIER headquarters which is now under attack by Genesis.[27] On his way, Zack allies with Angeal, who has developed doubts about his and Genesis' actions.[28] As Angeal, Zack and Sephiroth protect the headquarters, Angeal confronts Genesis, but both disappear. Zack is subsequently ordered to investigate Modeoheim, where Genesis has been spotted.[29] En route, Zack meets Shinra infantryman Cloud, and they become friends.[30] Near Modeoheim, Zack encounters and defeats Genesis, who appears to commit suicide by throwing himself into the depths of a reactor. Zack travels on to Modeoheim and finds both Angeal and Hollander. Tired of the fighting and his gradual degradation, Angeal summons and fuses with his own clones (which resemble canines) and mutates into a monster, forcing Zack to kill him. Before he dies, Angeal gives Zack his Buster Sword, telling him to protect his honor.[31]
